interface) for Linux Desktop
• Most Popular desktop environments in Linux
are :

4. LXDE ( http://www.lxde.org/)
What will we do
after installing ubuntu On
Notebook ?
• Change Repository
• Check For Availability of Proprietary Hardware
Drivers
• Install Codec for Playing Music and Movie
• Install Any Package who You Need
such as : Netbeans, Google Chrome, Gimp and
Inkscape etc
Repository
• Collection of various applications on the internet,
are collected into a single, packaged in the media
including software applications, games, multimedia,
internet, office, themes.

Change Repository

Open Terminal
Type : $ sudo su
Type : # nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Acces http://singo.ub.ac.id/penggunaan/ , copy
and paste Option Ubuntu in Text Editor nano
• Press : Ctrl + x -> y -> Enter
• Type :# apt-get update
Check For Availability of Proprietary
Hardware Drivers

Open Unity dash.
Search Additional Drivers and Open it.
Wait Until Check Done.
If Driver Detected Click Activate.
Install Codec For Music and Video
(Terminal Version)
• Open Terminal
• Type following command into Terminal
$ sudo apt-get update
• Type following command into Terminal
$ sudo apt-get install
ubuntu-restricted-extras
• If Done, Now try Play your Music and Video.
Install Codec For Music and Video
(GUI Version)
• Play your Music or Video
• If Messages dialog for Search Codec appear
Click button Search.
• Wait until Instalation Package Done
• Try Again for playing your Music or Video.
How to Install Package via Offline
• Google Crhome
1. Download Packages from google
2. Download Packages with Extension [dot] deb
3. Save in Direktori home
4. Open Terminal and Type Following Command :
$ sudo dpkg –i google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb
1. Wait Untill Installation Done.
2. Now Google Chrome Was Installed on your
Ubuntu.
How to Install Package via Repository
• VLC Media Player
1. Open Terminal
2. Type Following Command in terminal
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse
mozilla-plugin-vlc
3. Wait Until Installation Done
4. Now VLC ready on your Ubuntu
How to Remove Packages
• GUI Version
Open Synaptic Package Manager, and Unmark
software or packages you want remove
• Terminal Version
type this command in terminal :
$ sudo apt-get remove vlc
OR
$ sudo apt-get --purge remove vlc
