Student Handout for WeVideo Group Project

Getting Started With
Group Members: ______________________________________________
Technology Leader: _____________________________________________
WeVideo will allow you to make a video easily using your photos and videos. Through this free site
you will have access to 400 licensed music titles, royalty free graphics and effects, easy video editing
tools, instant uploads to YouTube/Facebook and more. This means that you can create a shared video
with your classmates using different computers and access your video from any computer.
For homework, ONE PERSON in your group needs to follow the directions below and
share the Group’s WeVideo account information with the other members.
This person will be the group’s technology leader and will learn about all of
WeVideo’s awesome features to share with the group:
Step #1: This technology leader needs to sign up for a free account for their group by going to
wevideo.com and clicking “SignUp” Each group will share one account.
-Select the “Free” option on the left and fill out the required information (please use your
REAL name and come up with an easy username and password for your group). Each group
will have one shared WeVideo account so write down this username and password and
share this information with all of your group members. )
GROUP USERNAME: ___________________________
GROUP PASSWORD: ___________________________
____________________________________________________________________
Step #2: Once you sign up for an account then you will be automatically logged in. You will need to
verify your e-mail address in order to gain access to WeVideo’s advanced features. Do this by clicking
on “Account” from the tabs at the top of the page, and then click “Verify Email”
____________________________________________________________________
Step #3: After completing Step #2, open up your e-mail to find the WeVideo verification e-mail
and follow those directions. Write down your group’s username and password for
WeVideo and give it to all of your group members (don’t lose this!). As you are working on
this project, work with your group members to make sure you are not logged into WeVideo at the
same time from different computers
_____________________________________________________________________
Step #4: Begin your project by clicking “Create Video.” This will take you to the tutorial videos.
Step #5: Watch these short tutorial videos. This will only take you about five minutes and will
give you the basic knowledge you will need to navigate the software. The videos will begin
automatically when you “Create a New Video” and answer a few questions (see below).
Encourage your group members to watch these videos as well.
Listen to each part of the
tutorial, complete any
practice activities and then
click “Next” to get to the
next tutorial.
As you go through the
tutorial, feel free to go
ahead and upload all of your
group’s media when it
prompts you to do so (your
group’s pictures, videos, etc).
*Your best friend with this
software will be the Support
Community at
http://blog.wevideo.com/support/,
and there are a few tutorials
on YouTube (or just try a
basic google search if you
have specific questions).
Step #6: Once you finish watching the tutorial videos, upload all of your group’s media
(pictures, images, etc.) into WeVideo so that you are ready to begin editing when we go to the lab. If
you don’t have access to your group member’s media then sign out of WeVideo, and then allow your
group members to sign in one at a time to upload their media from their own computers.
***By the time we meet as a class in the computer lab with Mrs. Gilman you should
have the following finished:
□-The technology guru of the group should follow ALL of the directions on this handout and
set up the group’s account. Don’t forget to watch the 5 minute tutorial videos!
□ -All group members should receive username and password information from Tech Guru
□ -All pictures and videos should be uploaded into We Video
We will work with editing your video, publishing your video, and downloading your
video during your lab time so come prepared!
