Invitation to the biannual
Workshop of
Molecular Plant Breeding
and to the General Meeting of the
German Society of Plant Biotechnology

- First Circular -
Dear colleagues,
the German Society of Plant Biotechnology this year once again invites to the
biannual workshop for Molecular Plant Breeding. On this occasion, the annual
general meeting of the society also will take place. This year, the workshop is
hosted by the Julius Kühn-Institut (JKI) in Braunschweig. In a small circle of
colleagues, current recearch projects in the field of Molecular Breeding can be
presented and discussed. To underline the informal character of the workshop,
ample time will be given for discussions and networking after the presentations,
in coffee breaks, at the workshop dinner and during the poster session. We invite you to actively shape this workshop with your contribution. The workshop
is especially interesting for Ph.D. students, post docs and lab researchers who
actually experience the ups and downs of biotechnological research in their daily work.
We are looking forward to your contribution!

The following topics will be in the spotlight:
Genome editing via SDN
Transformation and regeneration, especially of protoplasts
Development and application of molecular markers
Sequence analysis and bioinformatics
small RNAs and epigenetic regulation
Of course, contributions from other areas of molecular breeding are highly
welcome as well.
If you or any of your co-workers are interested in joining and contributing to
the workshop, please register by filling out the last page of the circular, indicating the kind of planned contribution (oral or poster). The deadline for registration is on 31st of March 2017.
A poster reward will be granted at the end of the workshop!
To open the workshop to an international audience, contributions can be made
in either German or English language.
Workshop fees will be 10 € for Society members and 30 € for non-members,
irrespective of student status. The fee can be paid on site in cash during the
workshop.
Colleagues who are interested in a membership in the German Society of Plant
Biotechnology are cordially invited to join the society via a registration form
from our web page www.pflanzen-biotechnologie.de. Annual member fee is 50 €.
Students are free upon proof.

The final program will be subject to the incurred contributions.
After the deadline, a second circular will be sent to all registered participants.
This will contain the final program as well as detailed informations on the workshop and accomodation.
