Christmas Outreach December 10 The Christmas season is a great opportunity for us as Christians to reach out to those in our lives who do not have a church home to call their own. It is also an ideal time to reach those in our lives who may be members of a church but have not been to worship in a while. We know the greatest gift we have is not found wrapped in paper or nestled below a tree. Our greatest gift is God's gift of free forgiveness in His Son Jesus. Take this opportunity to invite someone to join you in receiving the Christmas blessings God has for you and me in worship. YOUTH MINISTRY Grades 7 and 8 Students attended the Waupaca Foundry Manufacturing Day this fall. This hands-on experience allowed the students to create sand molds in which tin casting was poured to create keys and key rings which the students got to keep after some polishing and grinding. 7th and 8th Grade Students completed a unit on genetics. They learned about genotype, phenotype, and true breeding. After the unit, each student created their very own genetic “bug” per genes randomly chosen from Ma and Pa alleles. Then the student bugs were “mated” to produce third generation offspring. Phenotype characteristics were then compared with the Grandpa, Grandma, Ma, and Pa bugs. Children’s Bible Hour A mini cupola was set up outside in the Foundry parking lot which showed the actual melting and pouring of iron to create Manufacturing Day metal blocks that the students could take home. Our children's Bible hour is off to a wonderful start. During the month of December, we will share the stories leading up to and including the birth of Jesus. We will also be spending our time preparing for our Children's Bible hour Christmas program on Saturday, December 17th at 4 pm. We have been blessed to have Mrs. Bethany Warnke come forward to assist as our musical director. She has taught as a WELS teacher, music K- 8th grade, junior choir, tone chimes & piano for several years and is a wonderful asset. Our winter series, Jesus Shows He Is True God, will show our students the Almighty Power of God through Jesus’ miracles. As always we welcome children at any time. Our new musical director starts our hour off with singing praises to God before going to our individual rooms for stories, crafts and games. Please join us Sundays from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. OUTREACH MINISTRY 4th Annual Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner First Grade Mrs. Jorgensen’s class enjoyed time outdoors mining for fool’s gold as part of their study on rocks and minerals. Each student found their very own chunk of “gold”; sharing God’s Word with His children. . Over 50+ member volunteers took part in the 4th annual Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner. A delicious turkey dinner was enjoyed by 175 members and guests during this outreach and “in-reach” event that helped meet needs in the community and in St. Peters. Thank you to the event’s sponsors and volunteers. December 10th at 1pm there is an additional opportunity to reach out to our Weyauwega community--handing out postcard invitations door-to-door. This gesture shows that we care about our community and that we want to welcome them among us. Many hands will make light work and a warm soup dinner will await all participants after braving the cool weather.
