Asby Endowed School Friday 11th March 2016 Dear Parents and Friends, The tag rugby team will be in action next Thursday – the 10 children will need to be in school no later than 8.35am as the bus will leave by 8.45am. The tournament will take place at Frenchfields, Penrith and should last from 9.30-12noon. All children will need warm clothing (and waterproofs) plus boots. They will be accompanied by Fiona Harrison, Dave Birkbeck and Gillian Newbould. Packed lunches are required (three children have ordered a lunch from Appleby) but these will be eaten on their return to school. For parents of KS2 children: All children will need a packed tea for U-dance next Friday. No fizzy drinks and can you please bear allergies in mind when preparing your child(ren)’s lunch. They will leave school about 1.45 pm for an afternoon rehearsal and be accompanied by Ruth and Leanne. The performance will begin at 6.30pm. The expected finishing time is 8.30-8.40pm. You may find it useful to check available parking. We have been told that Asby pupils’ collection point will be at the stage door where children will be handed over to parents. Please let Ruth know by Monday if there are any problems with these arrangements or with collecting your child(ren). A special thank you to Carol Marston for helping with the costumes. There are 2 spare tickets available for the U-dance performance in the evening. If anyone is interested in them, please can you contact Fiona Harrison on 017683 51529. As previously advised there will be a parents evening on Monday 21st March - please complete the slip at the end of this letter to indicate if you would like an appointment to see the classteacher and if so, would you prefer one between 3.45 and 4.45pm or 4.45 and 6pm. Please could the forms be returned on Monday. Thank you. On Tuesday 22nd March, all the children will be making Easter Gardens at St. Peter's Church - to form a display for the 'East-Ingle' the following day. The trays will be provided, but we would like children to contribute to the miniature gardens. We would welcome natural things such as; flowers, greenery, pebbles, small sticks etc anything that will enhance the gardens! Please could items be brought in on Monday 21st - so that the staff can ensure we have a range of resources? On Wednesday 23rd March there will be an East-Ingle service at Asby Endowed Church at 2.30pm. You are all invited to join us for our celebration service. On Thursday 24th March, we will take part in the Sport relief challenge again. The children will run around the village for a mile distance. We will start at 9.15am. You will find sponsor forms for each child in the wallet bag and all money raised will go to Sport relief. As the course will be run on the local roads, we would like as many parents as possible to act as marshalls along the way. Please could you let Ruth or Leanne know if you can help. The children will need their sports kit. Finally, the year 6 children will be spending the day at Long Marton school on Monday. Five of the children will be having a hot meal at lunch-time so the usual dinner money for those children will be due next week. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
