How to Send out a Quick Announcement Using SchoolConnects
1. Click on the Announcement tab on the left hand side of the menu.
2. You will then choose New Task
A menu will come up saying: “
Create Quick Announcement
Indicate how the message should be delivered ...
Call And Email (Both)
Email First, Call Only If No E-mail Address
Call First, E-mail Only If No Phone Number
E-Mail Only
Call Only
Keep the default at Call Only and choose Next;
Your school name will be listed: choose Next;
Have the message that you would like to record written down.

At the next box, Choose Call: This box will come up:

At the above screen, you must choose whether you will receive the call by Direct
Connection or by Live Attendant. NOTE: If you will answer the phone when it
rings, choose Direct Connection. If someone else answers the phone and transfers
the call to you, choose Live Attendant and type in your telephone extension.
At the Phone # box enter 9, and the number that you will be reached at.
After you enter your phone number, click Call.
When SchoolConnects calls you at the phone number that you entered, answer the phone
and say Hello! You will see when someone answers the phone as a box will come up
saying: “Connected calling you at “ and you click OK. You will then need to click on
the Verify button that will be on the screen. You will now click on the Record button
and record your message. After you record your message, click the Stop Tab. You
now have the option to listen to your message before you hang-up. To do this, you
would choose Play. If the message is correct, you then click Hang-Up. If you are
not satisfied with your message, click Record, to re-cord your message.
When you are satisfied with your message, Click Hang Up and hang up the phone.
Click Exit.
Click Next.
Now you must select the dates and times for your calls to be delivered. They cannot be
delivered before 7:30 AM or later than 9 PM, regardless of the time that you choose.
Select the Start date-the date that you want the system to begin delivering the message.
The default is today’s date.
Select the Expiry Date-the date you want the system to stop attempting to deliver the
message.

Next you need to Indicate where to Read the Data:
Use Address Book to send messages to all households in your school. If you want a
certain grade level, select that grade level only.
To send a message to your entire student body you would click on the Import All button.
If it were just certain grade levels, you would click on those grade levels and then choose
Import Students.
You will see a list of the students that you imported. Click Close.
