• Visit reslife.umd.edu and click the yellow
LOGIN button to log in with your Directory ID
and password
• Click on your Campus Housing Status to view
housing assignment and roommate information
• Rooms are assigned in the order students’ housing
agreements are received
• Students in Living-Learning Programs are assigned
with their program
• Visit your Resident Life Profile on your Campus
Housing Page to make roommate requests and to
set other preferences by Friday, June 30

MOVE-IN TIMELINE
Thursday, August 24 & Friday, August 25

Bring your own hand truck or dolly

FALL MOVE-IN INFORMATION
EACH ROOM COMES WITH
• Regular Standard Twin Bed
• Desk
• Desk Chair
• Dresser
• Closet Space
• Data jack
• One phone jack per room (in Quads there are two)
• One cable jack (basic cable)
• Blinds
• All residence halls have wireless internet
and wired Ethernet connections

during move-in day! ☺

Bed Lofting: Please use the approved Loft
Vendor as identified in vendor materials.
▪
Carpets: A Carpet Vendor is provided in our
assignments notifications.
▪
Online list of acceptable/not acceptable items
(i.e. hot plates = NO; Keurig = Yes)
▪
Plan to bring what you need, not everything you
own.
▪
Our staff will be on-hand at each of the residence
halls. Let us know how we can help!
ROOMMATES

Your student will have one, two,
or three roommates, depending on their
particular room assignment
•
Encourage your student to contact their roommates
before arrival
•
There will be opportunities for roommates
to learn more about each other during move-in
weekend, including...
•Meet & Greets with their Resident Assistant
•Fall Welcome activities
•1st Floor Meetings
•Community Living Agreement conversations
• The best way to have a good roommate is
to be a good roommate--communicate, be flexible,
and negotiate
• Encourage your student to talk about issues with
their roommates before conflicts arise

• Entrance doors locked 24/7
• Triple barrier access card/key system
• Call boxes outside residence halls
• 24-hour service desks
• Staff on-call 24/7
WHAT WE EXPECT
• Students to help and lookout for each other
• Lock your door & always carry your ID and keys
• Don’t let in people you do not know
• Make sure doors close behind you; do not prop doors open
• Be responsible for your guests
• See something. Say something.

UMD is a smoke free campus.
•
Alcohol Policy: You must be 21 to possess or drink
alcoholic beverages in your own room, and you cannot
provide alcohol to persons who are underage.
•
Illegal drug use or possession (including marijuana)
may result in loss of housing and suspension from the
University.
•
Complete & submit your immunization paperwork to
the University Health Center

NOVEMBER 26 - Residence Halls reopen at 10 am
DECEMBER 19 - Residence Halls close at 7 pm; Winter Break
JANUARY 21 - Residence Halls reopen at 10 am for Spring semester
MARCH 16 - Residence Halls close at 7 pm; Spring Break
MARCH 25 - Residence Halls reopen at 10 am
MAY 18 - Residence Halls close for the academic year at 7 pm
