Years 10 – 13 Young Person’s Work Experience Application Process
Please note that this is an 8 week process and therefore you must submit your work experience
application in plenty of time to avoid disappointment.
Although we will endeavour to match your preference in regard to the department/area where you
would like to carry out your placement, this is subject to availability. Consequently, if we are
unable to meet your request, you will be given an alternative placement within the Trust.
If you have sourced your own placement, please clearly identify a contact name, work
area/department and contact number of the employee you liaised with on your Work Experience
Application Form.
In order for us to process your request, please print, complete and sign the clearance paperwork
listed below (please see the relevant links on the web page).

As part of the placement application process, you will receive an email requesting medical
information for the Occupational Health Department. You must complete the requested
information in order for your application to be processed. Your application will not be processed
unless we receive this information.
We are pleased that you wish to carry out your work experience at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
and look forward to welcoming you. However, as this is a lengthy process, we would please
request that you are certain that you wish to carry out your work experience with us before
applying. This will limit the risk of time wasted due to last minute cancellation from the applicant.
Please be aware that you will not be allowed to commence your work placement until all
clearances are completed to our satisfaction.
We will try to place you in an area of your choosing, however, this is not always possible. If we are
unable to comply with your request, you will be automatically offered another area within STH.
You will be contacted with details of your work experience placement when everything is in place.
