ACADEMY PLANT FOR THE PLANET A CSI DATE: March 17, 2016 Introduction: The academy "for the Planet" took home the Islamic school complex CSI) located in the new prefecture Agoè Nyivé NORTH suburb of Lome, and it is in a festive atmosphere that can be observed throughout the secondary schools in the Maritime region all started this morning with a speech by the head of the reception center. Welcome and registration: Registering takes away was conducted by Mensa. Of the six boxes we received, two were open, the station has informed us that the packages arrived in this state, and therefore several t-shirts were therefore lost .In this ciondition we could not offer 80 T- shirts by academy so only 71 participants had access to T-shirts .However, all students received books and certificates. After the speech of the host institution chief and some other school leaders who have traveled the censor CSI ordered the initiation of activities under a thunderous applause. Speeches and PowerPoint presentation of the Ambassador: After a speech inspired by a folk tale followed the PowerPoint presentation, the ambassador of the day, Miss Moudjibatou 16. Participants were unable to hold their breath, a storm of questions did not hesitate to blow the young lady who was born in responses by Mensa and all other team members. For nearly three half hour lasted this part of the training found boring to start, it was one that will talk about it later because all the ambassadors especially girls were impressed by the rhetoric and the reflex of 'ambassador. Note that the academy took place in a community whose emergence and empowerment of the girl are not quite effective although today they have the right to education as boys but take to take on leadership roles or to lead groups Climate crisis: Another interactive communication on the climate crisis was presented by one of Derrick Gbesso coordinators. This communication highlights the societal differences and climate injustices around the world between developed countries and developments .During more than one clock hour participants debated World Café: ideas assembly, for school group work and presentation During the formation of the working group, a fringe girls put forward the idea of creating a "green amazon", that is to say a club of young girls dedicated to the environment, this idea does has not been received by the organizer because it may split and lead to other problems including plant for the planet did not come to solve. After this work continued in serenity after a thirty minute lunch break. Groups of 10 students have been trained so initially these groups discussed among themselves on issues raised in the presentations and previous discussions, as each presentation was followed by a long discussion and answers to questions. After this phase was the working part in a group where every student must return to the group at her school and every school has a clear and coherent action plan for further activities in their community. These young people have therefore made a presentation of their program peers and counts the implement with the help of parents, coordinators and well as teachers. Long before the reforestation investments certificates were awarded to participants. Reforestation was made in the course where 100 young fruit trees were put into the ground; mango, guava, orange, lemon, avocado, royal palm weeping widow etc ... As usual, participants in each academy '' Plant for the Planet '' is previously registered before the start of the activity, and when the academy tradition was respected by recording Derrick Gbesso one of the coordinators this academy. All participants in this academy were recorded and they number 64 students come from more than 12 academic institutions Indeed others could not make the trip and arrived in late after hours so they were not taken into account for this academy but planned for a future academy. After this part, the head of the center and some institutions present leaders such as Mr. Abdoulaye AFO, Adjama Ikililou, and many were keen to present their words to the location of the participants and the guests in a good academy and much attention Ambassador of presentation One of the most important parts of this academy parts is the presentation of the Ambassador '' Plant for the Planet ''. Miss Moudibatou 16, was responsible to assume these responsibilities as it had done during the two academies already in the past and it was in an atmosphere of gaiety that the latter took the floor to give a speech at first, and thereafter a PowerPoint presentation followed by more discussions during which children asked questions and found appropriate responses as a football game; this part of two times forty five minutes amazed children to the point where many of them have to feel guilty and think they have been responsible and complicit in climate degradation. The climate crisis A second PowerPoint presentation on the climate crisis was made by Mr Gbesso Derrick during the presentation and the presentation was also followed by discussion between participants and thus giving rise to a debate and questions and answers with current figures on issues environmental and climate. World Café, working group per school, and exposed After the break, young people are income groups to work on various current, societal and environmental issues in their communities, schools and also home. After this, children with school ended up in 8 groups of 8 students. After half an hour of work, young people are invited to come present their work to classmates .The teachers were urged to support their students in this process of commitment to environmental protection and climate. A committee was set up to Presentation of certificates: The presentation of certificates was just symbolic because the certificates were given to teachers to provide students in the different institutions involved. Reforestation Some plants were symbolically laid to rest in the center that housed the academy because the center has welcomed ago from this two weeks before the Academy a previous academy that this center has already had an academy in which 100 plants were planted in the said center. For this it was agreed that principals ensure that the plants received their establishments are actually planted and this is what has been done and recorded by the coordinators '' Plant for the Planet '' days later. After this academy we have identified a total of 612 seedlings planted by the various ambassadors in their own activities outside plant for the plants since the beginning of this activity, so we planted a total 912 trees. Monitoring and evaluation : The financial difficulties have made it very difficult to follow these academies, however, we have created a platform that brings together all the young leaders of clubs and groups created from different platforms .These academies are formed by geographical proximity of the clubs and allow different leaders to meet and exchange their experiences and expertise. A virtual platform was created on whatsapp Denonne '' my tree, my contribution '' This platform allows children to post their photos and their trees on the group which allows us to capitalize on the trees planted at home and outside the school setting and academies activity. A total of 612 trees were recorded on this platform and the results are as shown in the following diagram: Local trees fruit trees exotic trees 250 200 150 100 50 0 ambassadors members of clubs parents, teachers and anonyms -local plants (locust bean, acacia, mahogany, cashew, moringa; Lengue ...) -fruit plants: mango, guava, avocado etc ... -exotic plants: coffee, cocoa, kapok, teak, coconut ... According static, 46 local non-fruit trees and 276 exotic trees (trees imported during colonization for commercial reasons). These results suggest found that only 7, 51% of the trees are of wild origin, which is one reason for the loss of wild biodiversity. Indeed for many years the reforestation of the cape has been on annuity trees. To remedy this problem, it is important that we set up nurseries to supply volunteers who want us together in reforestation to grow plants whose existence is threatened. results: -264 ambassadors for climate justice were trained and obtained certificates -32 clubs environment were created with a total 1014 members -300 trees were planted directly in the academies -612 indirectly by new ambassadors during their activities of their clubs -Commitment of the Ministry of Environment to partnershipwith us for the national campaign The lessons : 1) We understand that for most of the time this is not the message or knowledge of climate issues is not lost on children but rather it is the lack of focus or commitment that poses real problem of Hence the need to group them into clubs following their schools or community so that they can tighten the crank will and act together. 2) One of the most remarkable things is that we have seen how the participatory approach in reforestation process is very important and although we have not created a little bit, every child in his home, in the community church or school has planted at least one tree. It is useless to want to be champion reforestation. Difficulties The difficulties associated with this program are varied: - Organizational problems in some schools - Financial difficulties - The customs trouble receiving material - Transportation, logistics equipment inside Togo (high cost) - No nursery - Late Payment of the contribution of '' Plant for the Planet '' (often between 6 and 20 weeks after the event) Future prospects : Although the challenges are large and will grow as we move forward, we do not have the will to stop any time soon unless the above financial means are lacking. The reports of these academies have been fully validated by '' Plant for the Planet '' and so we therefore expect their full subsidy of 320 Euros. We take this opportunity to call on others to join us financially and technically for the rest of the program. We have for 60 training workshops called academies '' Plant for the Planet '' and we just finished 3 of 60 so the road ahead is still very large. Besides the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources has granted us their partnership by agreeing to sponsor the program through technical support as trainers and plants are there .These departments have often no budget to support civil society. Already 9 May 2016, a second wave of hardware will leave Germany for Togo to achieve three other academies during the months of May and June 1st (Arbor Day in Togo).
