Position Summary:
The Vice President of Community Engagement will be responsible for all aspects of leading and
managing the organization’s outreach and engagement activities, including the creation of
innovative platforms and communication channels, and the activation of potential blood stem
cell/bone marrow donors through registration activities across the country.
The Manager of Partnerships and Business Development will be responsible for defining short
and long-term strategic goals, building key relationships, identifying business opportunities,
negotiating and formalizing partnerships and maintaining market knowledge.
The Vice President will contribute to the organization’s goals through a variety of activities and
channels centered and awareness building, partnerships, and community mobilization. This role
will be responsible for overseeing all activities around registration and managing the team with
which the plan will be achieved.
Responsibilities:
 Develop and oversee all community engagement functions and strategies on a short and
long-term basis, ensuring that the work is innovative, high-impact and strategically
focused while meeting the registration goals for the organization
 Lead and supervise the community engagement functions of the Development team,
inspiring and supporting employees in their work, ensuring a workplace culture of mutual
respect and teamwork, and prioritizing training and professional development
 Lead a cohesive planning and budgeting process to set up a goal-oriented annual plan
that is aligned with national and international priorities








Establish, manage, monitor and analyze the Key Performance Indicators, effectiveness
of programs, and the departmental budget on a regular basis for reporting to the
Executive Team, Board of Directors, Donor Recruitment Matrix and Development team
Produce regular reports to analyze community engagement efforts segmented by
specific target populations, geographical parameters, method of engagement and
employee involvement
Maintain a proactive, creative leadership role in the education and recruitment of
potential blood stem cell/bone marrow donors
Cultivate, solicit and maintain relationships with key partners, working with the Chief
Development Officer, CEO, and Board members, as appropriate
Partner with Marketing and Communications team to devise creative and innovative
registration campaigns using a range of recruitment techniques, monitoring progress,
and evaluating benefit
Represent the organization at events, conferences, interviews, networking activities, etc.
Manage, develop, and improve registration systems, processes and Standard Operating
Procedures (SOP’s) on an annual basis; and work with other departments to ensure
organizational effectiveness for all registration functions
Keep up to date with developments in the corporate and nonprofit sector e.g. news and
competitive activity
Requirements/Qualifications:
 7-10 years of successful experience in program oversight, management and sales, with a
demonstrated ability to build strategy, set and meet goals and work effectively with staff
and partners at every stage of the process
 A team player and strong leader, able to delegate and prioritize multiple activities and
responsibilities and work collaboratively in leading and managing people
 Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented with the ability to work well in a fast
paced, dynamic environment
 Strong analytical and strategic skills
 An outstanding relationship builder with ties to a broad and diverse range of
communities; proven successful experience working in a variety of diverse contexts and
with the ability to interact professionally and thoughtfully
 Excellent oral and written communication skills with public speaking experience
 An entrepreneurial vision to create excitement and energy around DKMS, ensure that its
programs are widely known and understood, and encourage others to support its goals
 Effective organizational and time management skills with ability to multitask
 Minimum Bachelor level education; advanced degree in related field a plus
 Strong passion for the mission
 Up to 40% regional and international travel required, including evening/weekend working
hours based upon business needs
 Valid driver’s license
