VERBS AND EXPRESSIONS FOLLOWED BY –ING FORM Do you like playing computer games? Are you good at making cakes? Do you enjoy listening to music? Laura likes working in a team. Melanie hates getting up early. I can’t stand cooking. I prefer doing things in a group. Verbs describing likes and dislikes like, enjoy, prefer, hate, mind, stand ... are often followed by –ING form of a verb (working, getting up, cooking, doing,...) I am good at solving problems. He is keen on* playing team games. We are interested in collecting stamps. * Keen on = like We also use – ING form after the expressions with prepositions ( good at, interested in, keen on,...) Remember! After want, would we don’t use –ing , but to + infinitive I would like to be an actor. I want to be on Survivor. Thank you! Have a nice day!
