Category 1 – General Play Adjustment

 Category 1 – General Play Adjustment – Authorisation Codes CONGU do not authorise affiliated golf clubs to make adjustments to members with category 1 handicaps (plus to 5) without the prior authorisation of the Golf Union of Wales. This authorisation should only be given under exceptional circumstances and when a full record of the players scores has been submitted. When the Handicap Committee has decided that the: a) Exact Handicap of a Category 1 player should be reduced, or the b) Exact Handicap of a Category 2 player should be reduced into Category 1 The Club must contact the Golf Union of Wales giving detailed reasons for the requested reduction. CATEGORY 1 – NEW MEMBER – AUTHORISATION CODES CONGU do not authorise affiliated golf clubs to allocate a category 1 handicaps (plus to 5) to a new member without the prior authorisation of the Golf Union of Wales. This authorisation should only be given once the following criteria has been met:-­‐ The Club must check the following:-­‐ a) b) Are there any disciplinary or any other problems leading to the change of clubs? -­‐ If yes – they must write into the Golf Union of Wales giving full details -­‐ If no Is the other club in agreement with the transfer? -­‐ If yes – the club must be in possession of the player’s detailed Handicap Record for 2 years prior to the transfer. -­‐ If no – they must obtain handicap record before password can be given. The GUW shall then authorise, reject or refer the matter back to the Handicap Committee for further consideration. The GUW must be supplied with all the information upon which the recommendation is based and with any further information required. Should an adjustment be approved a password is required. This code will be issued when all the above is fulfilled. This password should then be inserted into the golf clubs handicapping software when prompted in order for the adjustment to be implemented.
