Describe your topic
 Write a brief paragraph that describes what
topic you are writing about (and do use
pictures to keep things interesting!)
Your Thesis
 Write your thesis here as clearly as possible.
 Your audience should know exactly what
point you will prove in your research
project.
Scholarly Sources
 You may want to list
and briefly summarize
the major scholarly
sources you are using
here
 You may also want to
write quotes from
them here and on
succeeding slides
Supporting Point 1
 Your supporting points are the points you
make to prove your thesis. Your argument
may have a few supporting points or it may
have several.
 You prove your supporting points with
textual evidence such as quotes and
paraphrases from your scholarly sources.
Supporting Point 2
 Again, you may use quotes and paraphrases
from both your scholarly sources and any
primary texts as evidence for your
supporting points
Supporting Point 3
 These points are the proof for your thesis
Evaluation
 Here you explain where you are in your
research, what you’ve accomplished, and
what research or writing you still have to do
 Don’t just read off of your powerpoint slides--that’s
boring!
 Your powerpoint presentation is a visual aide; it is not your
talk
 Your slides should contain only the key points of what you
are talking about
 Design your slides so that they are easy and pleasing to
read and view--don’t make them as annoying as this slide!
 Practice your oral presentation before you deliver it in
class to make sure it runs smoothly and on time
 Your oral presentation should last about 10 minutes
