English
We will be writing stories with a
historical setting. We will also be
writing information texts. This will
be linked to our History topic Stone
Age to Iron Age
Topic
Who first lived in Britain? We will
gain an overview from the Stone age
through to the Iron Age. We will
consider how we know about a
historical period without written
sources and to research what it
might have been like to live during
this period.
Creative
Our DT topic this term will be
Frame structures and we will be
researching, designing and
building bridges.
R.E.
We will look at stories of key
religious leaders. We will also
explore the key aspects of religions
and traditions that influence the
beliefs and values of others.

adding and subtracting. We will

shadow?
We will recognise that
shadows are formed when
the light from a light source
is blocked by a solid object.
Computing
We will discuss with children what
they do online. Explain some of
the risks to using the internet and
ask the children who they talk to
online and then how well do they
really know them?

look at a variety of poetry highlighting
the use of imagery. In addition to this,
we will also continue learning the
statutory spellings for Year 4
Topic
Geography – Where would you
choose to build a city?
We will explore features of Britain’s
biggest cities and compare them to
small towns and villages. Children
will also choose a major European
city to research.

Our DT topic this term will be

Science- Plants. How did
that blossom become an
apple tree?
This half term we will be looking
at plants . We will identify and
describe the functions of
different parts of plants; roots,
stems, leaves and flowers.
We will also investigate the
ways in which water is
transported within plants.
Children will also explore the
role of flowers in the life cycle
of flowering plants, including
pollination, seed formation and
seed dispersal.
