MIT Sandbox Team Expectations February 2016 Use of Funds Funding shall be used for the proposed project only according to the proposed budget. If you plan to use the money in a way that is different from the proposed budget, please make sure to clear it with your mentor or with the MIT Sandbox staff by emailing [email protected]. The funds are to be used by April 30th, 2016. Team Members Forming a team and figuring out how to work as a well-functioning team is an important aspect of entrepreneurship success. If teams need any help working through issues or recruiting new members, don’t hesitate to address with your mentor or with the Sandbox Executive Director ([email protected]). Mentorship Each team must be working with a least one mentor, and preferably at two or more. Information will be forthcoming about the program’s mentorship matching process. Each team must arrange to connect with their mentor(s) as follows: Schedule one monthly meeting Email weekly reports Communication as needed Reporting Student teams are expected to submit a weekly report to their mentors and the sandbox program (email [email protected] with the subject line “MIT Sandbox Weekly Report”). Weekly reports should be brief and answer the following questions: What did you accomplished this week? What is your plan for next week? What roadblocks did you face and do you need any special attention/help from your mentor(s)? A final report is expected and is due by April 30th. Workshops and Events We’re in the process of planning a series of workshops with the purpose of providing quick training on topics of interest and providing a forum for Sandbox teams to get together on a regular basis. If you have ideas for workshops/events you’d like to see, please send those ideas to [email protected]. Workspace and Resources MIT Sandbox is partnering with various other resources on campus. Please contact the executive director ([email protected]) if you need help working with those resources. Intellectual Property If the proposed idea is based on technology developed as part of an MIT research program, students must check with TLO about any IP implications. Please check with TLO any time you have questions about IP issues. Conflict of Interest Any potential conflicts of interest or team disagreements should be brought up to the executive director ([email protected]). What’s Next Teams will be able to apply for the next round of funding (up to $25K) in March. If you plan to participate in the next round, make sure to work with your mentors to ensure you use the funding to ensure you have a compelling story for the Funding Board. We’re still finalizing the selection criteria for the Funding Board and will communicate those by the end of February/Early March.
