ROLE CONTEXT
Organisational
Overview
The SACE Board of South Australia operates within legislative requirements as
detailed in the SACE Board of South Australia Act 1983 and adheres to work health
and safety requirements, equal opportunity principles, and public sector principles.
The SACE Board of South Australia is responsible for the development and
management of curriculum and its assessment, as well as the certification and
reporting of student achievement and student participation data, in the South
Australian Certificate of Education.
The Office of the SACE Board is organised around three functional groups: Curriculum
and Assessment, Information Services, and Corporate Services.
In collaboration with other groups across the SACE Board, the Corporate Services
group provides a range of strategic and operational functions relating to strategic and
business planning, performance monitoring and reporting, communications
management, financial management, human resource management, procurement
management, records management, protective security management, facilities
management and customer services.
Role Summary
The Marketing Coordinator is accountable to the Manager, Communications for
providing strategic advice and delivering responsive and effective marketing and
promotion services to support effective communication and engagement with
stakeholders and the achievement of the SACE Board’s strategic priorities.
Role Purpose
The Marketing Coordinator is accountable to the Manager, Communications and has
line management responsibility for the Events and Marketing Officer and Graphic
Designer. The Marketing Coordinator works closely with other members of the
Communications team and is responsible for:

developing effective marketing, promotion and event management strategies that
contribute to SACE Board strategic plan priorities

initiating, implementing, conducting and reviewing marketing & promotional
campaigns, projects and activities

contributing to the development of business growth to establish SACE as the
qualification of choice within identified strategic markets

contributing to the development of the Communications team’s workgroup plan
and monitoring projects to deliver outcomes consistent with the SACE Board of
SA’s Strategic Plan, Annual Priorities and Corporate Services Work Group plan

providing strategic advice to the Manager, Communications on marketing,
promotion and event management matters

overseeing the coordination of a range of SACE Board events

undertaking high level market research and analysis to inform marketing
strategies, campaign development and promotions

providing effective and relevant program marketing services that are target
audience specific and convey the value of the program

developing risk management plans, budgets, critical paths and a range of other
documentation related to campaigns and events, to a high standard

using online technologies, including social media, to support the delivery and
promotion of SACE Board marketing campaigns and events

developing, implementing and reviewing policies, procedures and guidelines
related to the SACE Board’s marketing, event management and social media
activities

creating, developing and maintaining the SACE Board’s social media presence,
including developing systems and processes for monitoring and engagement
maintaining orderly records and documentation to facilitate good working practice
contributing to the shared work of the SACE Board in collaboration with all SACE
Board working groups and teams





Voluntary flexible working arrangements
Intrastate travel to regional and remote locations / interstate travel may be
required.
Annual performance agreement for the achievement of specific service or
program outcomes
Some out-of-hours work may be required
The incumbent works under the SACE Board of South Australia Act
Intense periods of activity occur for this role in the lead-up to major events and
campaigns. During these times, particularly from December to mid-February,
planned leave may not be possible
Appointment is subject to a satisfactory background screening and national
criminal history check obtained through the Screening and Licensing Unit,
Department for Communities and Social Inclusion to be renewed every 3 years
thereafter from date of issue. Existing employees who have undertaken a Police
Check and are cleared and subsequently charged with an offence are required to
inform their Line Manager immediately






ESSENTIAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Leadership and
Management Skills

Appropriate tertiary qualification in marketing, public relations, communications or
other relevant disciplines (or equivalent experience)

Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with diverse teams to achieve
organisational goals
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team including effective
performance management

Communication and
Interpersonal Skills


Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with
key internal and external stakeholders and work effectively, both independently
and within teams, to achieve agreed outcomes
Organisational Skills

Significant experience in planning and coordinate complex campaigns and
events, including estimating time and effort, tracking to time and budget, and
coordinating staff and financial resources
Proven ability to determine priorities, meet tight deadlines, and produce highstandard work under pressure

Technical Skills

Ability to keep accurate and complete records of business activities in
accordance with the State Records Act 1997

Ability to develop policies, procedures and guidelines
Understanding of the role of senior secondary education campaigns and events
within a broader communication and engagement strategy
Sound knowledge and understanding of policies and principles relating to equal

Attributes/Experience

An understanding of the role of the SACE Board of South Australia as a statutory
authority, including knowledge of the legislation, Strategic Plan priorities for the
organisation, and the Board and committee structures
Experience in international marketing
