Recently, Valmeyer High School was required to send a form letter

Recently, Valmeyer High School was required to send a form letter from the Illinois State Board
of Education informing parents that our high school did not make AYP (Adequate Yearly
Progress) for the second year in a row. Because of this, Valmeyer is now considered a school “In
Status”.
When you are a school “In Status” you have to offer “School Choice”. School Choice means that
students will now be allowed to transfer to another high school that is not “In Status”. There are
no High Schools in the St. Louis metro-east who are not "In Status" – None. That includes all
high schools in Calhoun, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin, Monroe, Randolph, Madison, St. Clair,
Clinton, Marion, Washington, Bond, Effingham, and Fayette. (This includes our neighboring
districts: Waterloo, Columbia, and Red Bud). Valmeyer High School was one of the last schools
in Illinois to be labeled “In Status” based upon the decade old No Child Left Behind legislation.
We are fully recognized and accredited and are not in any jeopardy of losing that status now or
in the future.
9% of our students scored a 30 or higher on the ACT the last two years – National average is 3%
25% of our students scored a 28 or higher on the ACT last year - National average is 7%.
50% of our students scored a 24 or higher on the ACT last year – National average is 20%
Our average composite ACT score last year was 22.93 – State Average is 20.9
