User Guide The following document is based on the strategic choices formulated by TU Delft's Executive Board in the strategic plan 2007 – 2010. It is an instrument for safeguarding the quality of the scientific staff's work. The text of this document was prepared in a workgroup made up of professors from all of TU Delft's faculties. This document is intended to be used as an aid during interviews between supervisors and staff members regarding the quality of the staff member’s performance. The texts included in this document concerning the staff member's performance are not intended as stipulations and as such no rights can be derived from them. This document is part of a series on expected performance criteria, on the basis of normal performance, for all of the scientific positions held at TU Delft. Three parts of the series form the 'backbone' of the series: the part for Assistant Professors, the part for Associate Professors and the part for Full Professors. All other parts of the series are derived from these three parts. TU Delft believes that the focus of the work in the series of positions UD 2, UD 1, UHD 2, UHD 1, HL 2 and HL 1 should shift from a 'focus on one's own work' to a 'focus on an institutional and extra-institutional level' during the course of a career path. The reach of a scientific position is subdivided below in four result areas: Education, Research, Valorisation and Organisation and Leadership. Alongside the qualitative performance, the quantitative performance in a result area will also be examined, if this is considered useful. A colour code is used in the texts. The colours have the following meaning: - Orange text blocks (‘Aim of the position (UFO)’), as well as red text originate from the VSNU job classification system (UFO) and as such are prescribed, meaning they cannot be amended by any single university; Black text applies to all 'boxes' (see below); Blue text is mainly of significance in the 'science' box (AS, EEMCS); Purple text is mainly of significance in the ‘engineering’ box (CEG, 3mE, AE); Green text is mainly of significance in the ‘design’ box (Ar, IDE, TPM)
