THE ROLE OF PLANT PHYSIOLOGY IN SOCIETY 15 hp (BL5025) The aim of the course is to provide a deeper understanding of the use of plants in society and of the life processes in plants that are important for this usage. In the course, basic research is linked to the applications of new knowledge. You will carry out an internship in one of the research groups. There will be opportunity for a study visit, i.e. at a plant biotech company. Selected topics: plant manipulation by people (i.e. breeding, genetic modification) physiology of major agricultural and horticultural plants (i.e. cereals, oil crops, fruits and berries) plants used for other purposes than food (i.e. fibers, medicines, ornamental plants) plants used to improve the environment or other sustainability issues (eco techniques, biofuels, algal biotechnology, carbon sinks and ecosystem functions) For more information contact Prof. Lisbeth Jonsson ([email protected])
