Our practitioners include: Independent Mental Capacity Advocates Independent Mental Health Advocates NHS Complaints Advocates User Involvement Workers Generic professional Advocates Our influencing work We know we transform lives by the individual pieces of work we do every day across VoiceAbility, for over 18,000 people annually. And we know people we work with often do not want their experience relived by others. So it is incumbent upon us to influence law makers and decision makers to transform the lives of many with the voices of a few. Registered Charity 1076630 Limited Company 3798884 Through our participation in the Care and Support Alliance, an umbrella group of 70 of the largest social care organisations, we led work to extend the rights to advocacy through legislation. In April 2014 the Care Act received Royal Assent. This important piece of legislation gave people and their Carers greater control of their social care by enabling people to understand and receive higher quality services and better community support, and in addition extended the right to advocacy in care planning, assessments, reviews and safeguarding. We are very proud to have influenced a change which will improve the lives of potentially, millions of people. What our staff say At VoiceAbility we know our greatest asset are our staff teams, based all over the country. In 2014 we conducted a staff engagement survey which demonstrated: 95% people know what our values, principles and purpose are; 93% of staff expressed a willingness to give extra effort to help VoiceAbility to succeed. “I think as an organisation it really values staff and takes time to say thank you, and appreciate people’s previous experience.” “This is the most fulfilling job I have had, because the work is people and community orientated, as well as creative in the thinking required of me. And my colleagues are all terrific.” “I have now worked at VoiceAbility for a period of 9 years and love my job. I am passionate about what I do and how I carry out my work.” The future This is a key time in the development of the organisation. We will provide quality services to over 20,000 people this year, and we want this to increase every year, as it means more people are receiving help and assistance who desperately need it. VoiceAbility is an ambitious organisation. We are driven by our vision of a society where everyone’s views and voices are heard, respected and valued, and where everyone is able to lead a full and enjoyable life.
