2017 MYBS 5 & 6 Yr Old Girls Tee Ball League Game Rules GAMES: All games have a 1 hour time limit. No new inning will start after the 55 minute mark. No score is kept for the games. Each team is expected to turn in a line up at least 10 minutes before the start of the game. All games will be played using a 9” Safe T Ball. BEHAVIOR: There is no smoking of any kind (cigarettes, e-cigarettes, etc.) allowed within 50 feet of any dugout or field. Penalty will be suspension of the offender for the remainder of the game. If offender(s) refuse to leave, their team will forfeit that game. Foul or abusive language of any kind will not be tolerated and offender will receive one verbal warning and then the offender will be removed from the park. Failure to leave will cause stoppage of the game and possible forfeit. Aggressive or inappropriate behavior toward any umpire, scorekeeper or league official will result in offender being removed from the park. A 2 game suspension will also be enforced for the next two games. All teams are required to pick up trash from their dugout after each game. If we, as coaches and administrators take pride in our league with even the small details, the kids will observe this and it will become a habit for them. BALL: Ball Used in this league are the 9” RIF (Reduced Injury Factor) Saf-T-Ball. CORRESPONDENCE: League must have current email addresses and phone numbers of all coaches, if you change email or phone please let Athletic Coordinator know as soon as change occurs. This will prevent missed communications and prevent many misunderstandings. The vast majority of correspondence will be via email so please inform us immediately if you change your email address. COACHES: All head coaches must be NYSCA (National Youth Sports Coaches Association) certified. We must do this to validate our program and to educate our coaches. Penalties might include teams with non-certified coaches will be required to pay for their practice times, while certified coaches will continue to receive free practice times. All Coaches in the dugout or coaching bases must be approved coaches. To be an approved coach they must have submitted a coaching application, concussion training certificate and TBI background check. Penalty for having a non-approved coach in the dugout will result in forfeiture of that game. All coaches must be either in the dugout or within arm’s reach of the dugout opening – team will receive one warning and then next offense will result in a one out penalty being assessed in the team’s next at bat. Only Head Coaches (or designated head coach for teams with more than one head coach) can be the only coaches to address umpires, scorekeepers and league officials in asking for clarification of a rule or call. Penalty will be one out penalty in the team’s next at bat and removal of that assistant coach for the remainder of the game. If this occurs after the game, coach will be suspended for next game. If a coach incurs 2 offenses during the season they will be suspended for remainder of the year. A dugout coach is recommended while the team is at bat. If possible, we suggest a team have four coaches during the game (dugout, home plate, 1st base and 3rd base). Maximum of 4 coaches allowed in the dugout. Adults are only allowed to coach bases. No one under age 18 years of age is allowed to coach bases. DRAFT: There is no draft at this level, players will be assigned to teams. RAIN OUTS / MAKE UPS: With the longer season, we could run into more rainouts, if a rainout occurs within the last 2 weeks of the season and trying to make them up would affect the start of the playoffs, the game(s) will not be made up – regardless if they could impact the league standings or not. If a team is scheduled for a make-up game and does not show up (for any reason), they will forfeit that game and under no circumstance will it be rescheduled. Everyone is encouraged to sign up for www.rainedout.com to receive immediate notification of rained out games. OFFENSE: All players in attendance must be in the batting lineup and lineup must remain the same for the entire game. An inning will consist of three outs or once all batters have batted. No one will bat more than once per inning. If a team is playing with only 8 players, they only bat 8 players per inning. The other team can still bat all their batters. An out will consist of three strikes or five attempts, even if the fifth attempt results in a foul ball. The batting coach will place the ball on the tee after the umpire has called for play to begin. The ball must travel beyond the 25ft arc to be a fair ball. If the defensive player makes a play on a ball still moving inside the arc it is considered a live ball. The last batter will be played as if there are two outs. If the defensive player has control of the ball in the baseline with the last batter advancing toward them, time can be called for safety reason (umpires judgment). All players are required to wear a helmet while batting and on the bases. One warning for slinging a bat will be issued for a team each game. Any slung bat after a team has been warned will result in an out. All base runners must remain in contact with the base until the ball leaves the tee. Time will be called by the umpire when the ball is controlled by an infielder and the lead runner has stopped or abandoned his effort to advance to the next base. DEFENSE: All players will take the field defensively. Normal infield positions will be taken with the pitcher remaining inside the pitching circle until the ball is put into play. No defensive player will be allowed closer than the imaginary line crossing the pitchers plate until the ball is put into play. Six players are allowed in the infield, all other players must start each play in the outfield (grass area). Two defensive coaches are allowed in the outfield (must remain in the grass) during play. Every team must have a defensive pitcher on the field. No players are to be touched while ball is in play. The penalty will result in an out or a free base depending on the team in violation. BOWL GAMES / TROPHIES: All teams play a one game “bowl game” and each player receives a participation trophy at the end of the game.
