Student Chapters: Executive Board Position Descriptions
*President: The president is responsible for making sure his/her school's chapter is on
track in terms of meeting set goals in fundraising, event-hosting, etc. The president
organizes and facilitates weekly executive board meetings, serves as a link between the
chapter and both the school's campus as well as MEDLIFE USA, and looks for new
ways to address health needs in the local community. The president is responsible for
organizing his or her student chapter, maintaining communication with the SAB and
executive board, and directing MEDLIFE members in reaching the goals set forth by the
these groups. To these ends, the president must work closely with and oversee the
work of all other chapter officers.
*Vice President: The vice president works closely with the Mobile Clinic officer,
fundraising chair, and president to ensure that semester goals are being met. This
position takes notes during bi-weekly meetings, sets up google documents, schedules
rooms, and ensures that MEDLIFE's calendar runs smoothly.
*Mobile Clinic Officer: The Mobile Clinic officer is the contact person for all students
who are interested in volunteering on a Mobile Clinic. This student coordinates the
student registration and Mobile Clinic preparation. This includes coordinating student
airfare with MEDLIFE USA staff members and travel agents, as well as sending out all
trip-related information to clinic participants.
Membership and Mobile Clinics Officer: The membership and Mobile Clinics officer is
responsible for recruiting new members, organizing Mobile Clinics, and ensuring active
involvement from student volunteers. This involves recruiting students to attend the
Mobile Clinic, briefing participants about our mission and expectations, helping
participants book air travel, and acquiring donations of medications and supplies when
necessary. This officer works closely with the media and advertising chair to promote
the MEDLIFE chapter.
*Co-Fundraising/Events Officer: The co-fundraising/events officer is in charge of one
large-scale MEDLIFE event per semester. Examples of these type of events include a
5K, battle of the bands, banquet, or silent auction. This Fundraising Chair is should form
an events committee to assist in the semester planned event.
Co-Fundraising/Treasury Officer: In this position, the officer is responsible for
planning and managing the small, local fundraisers (e.g. scarves sales, bake sales).
The fundraising chair should form a planning committee for each fundraiser. This chair
also serves as the treasurer and handles the dues, university budget and spending.
*Media and Advertising Officer: The advertising officer is responsible for spreading
the word about MEDLIFE on campus and beyond through the development of
promotional material and publicity campaigns. This includes sending out Mobile Clinic
information through various listservs, street painting for major events, organizing
Facebook and Twitter ads, and encouraging members to develop new outlets to tell
people about our organization. The media officer will also be responsible for
documenting chapter activities (via text, photos, or video) and sending this information
to MEDLIFE USA staff members.
Service and Internal Affairs Officer: The service and internal affairs officer is
responsible for creating a more unified member body. This is accomplished by planning
social events for the members, facilitating group activities during the chapter meetings
and organizing sustainable service projects that give MEDLIFE members the
opportunity to improve the health of the surrounding community.
Expansion Officer: The expansion officer will be in charge of helping other local
schools and groups start MEDLIFE chapters. This involves reaching out to local
institutions, giving presentations about MEDLIFE to local rotary groups and high
schools, and guiding groups through the chapter creation process.
* A school starting a new MEDLIFE chapter must fill at least the starred positions
in order to start its executive board.
NOTE: SAB members have the authority to remove any executive board member if that
board member is not meeting semester goals or representing MEDLIFE is a proper
manner.
