HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT UNIFORM DRESS CODE In order to improve the school’s educational environment, promote a more effective climate for learning, foster school unity and pride, and allow students to focus solely on learning and not on attire, the school has a dress code for students that applies to all school days and school-sponsored events. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES WILL RECEIVE A MINUS FIVE (GARNISHED WAGE) ON THEIR PAYCHECK EACH DAY THEY ARE NOT 100% IN PROPER UNIFORM. REPEATED DISREGARD OF THE DRESS CODE WILL INVOLVE A MEETING WITH THE STUDENT’S ADVISOR AND THE STUDENT’S FAMILY. Atlas Preparatory Students Shall Wear: Depending on the day of the week, students are allowed to wear certain uniform items. Please refer to appropriate sections below for uniform guidelines. Monday-Thursday REQUIRED: Long sleeve Atlas Preparatory light blue or light yellow oxford shirt o Long sleeve oxford shirts must be purchased from Atlas Prep using the Uniform Order Form o OXFORD LONG SHIRT SLEEVES MUST BE BUTTONED AT ALL TIMES o NO MORE THAN ONE COLLAR BUTTON MAY BE UNDONE ON OXFORD SHIRTS REQUIRED: Tan or light brown khaki-colored dress pants, without cargo pockets o No blue, black or non-khaki colored pants may be worn. No low-rise, flare, bell-bottom, cargo (pockets near knees), wide-legged or overly tight pants are permitted. Khaki-colored dress pants should be straight leg or regular fit, and not made of denim or jean material. They should not be ripped or frayed at the bottom. o NO SKINNY KHAKI PANTS ARE PERMITTED REQUIRED: Brown or black dress shoes, loafer or lace-up style o NO SNEAKERS OF ANY TYPE – including all black tennis shoes, skate shoes, and all shoes that look like sneakers o Only traditional loafer or lace-up style shoes are permitted. Work boots are not permitted. Open-toe shoes and sandals are not permitted at any point during the year. o If you have a question about a new pair of shoes please call the school or bring them by before your student wears them so they may be returned to the store if they do not meet the Atlas Prep Dress Code. Fridays Only REQUIRED: Light blue, mediterranean blue or light yellow short sleeve Atlas Preparatory polo shirt o Short sleeve polo shirts must be purchased from Atlas Prep using the Uniform Order Form o NO LONG-SLEEVE SHIRTS MAY BE WORN UNDERNEATH THE POLO SHIRT. OPTIONAL: Dark or light blue jeans o No low-rise, flare, bell-bottom, cargo (pockets near knees), wide-legged or overly tight pants are permitted. They should not be ripped or frayed at the bottom, or have large holes or tears. o NO SKINNY JEANS ARE PERMITTED OPTIONAL: Casual or Tennis Shoes UNIFORM ACCESSORIES REQUIRED: Atlas striped tie (for boys) or striped belt (for girls) o Ties and belts are required on Mondays only REQUIRED: Plain brown or black belt (no decorative stones or studs) o CANNOT BE OTHER COLORS OR HAVE STUDS OPTIONAL FOR ATHLETIC ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES: o Enrichment teachers will be sending home information about what clothes will be allowed during athletic enrichment once school starts OPTIONAL: Earrings no larger than a dime and watches may be worn at the school’s discretion o Chains, wrist bands, bracelets, rubber bands, hoop earrings and other forms of jewelry are NOT allowed o Hats, head-wraps, bandanas, or kerchiefs are NOT permitted unless it is in accordance with religious observation o Dyed hair hairstyles, makeup or piercings that serve as a distraction – at the determination of the school – will not be permitted When students enter the school building, they must be in the proper uniform; they cannot change into the school uniform upon arrival. Students also may not change out of their uniform before dismissal. Doing so will result in a minus five (garnished wage) on their paycheck. At all times during the school day, shirts must be tucked in with the collar completely down.
