WELCOME
Dear NPHC Greek Organization:
It is that time of year again! The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Louisiana State University would like to
cordially invite you to participate in our 2016 Homecoming Step Show. This year’s show will take place at
7:00PM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the LSU Union Theater. This year’s theme is, “Greekdom.” In the spirit
of LSU Homecoming season, this step show is the perfect opportunity to showcase the diverse talents that our
NPHC organizations have to offer to the greater LSU community while continuing to build upon the long
standing legacy of stepping in our organizations.
We have been working diligently to provide participants with the best campus venue for stage performance.
This year’s show will include private dressing rooms within the venue for each organization, hospitality rooms
for participating steppers and the lively LSU Homecoming audience.
To participate in this event, organizations must fill out the registration form included in this packet. This form is
due, along with a $100 registration fee ($50 to be refunded the day of the show), by Friday, September 16th at
11:59 p.m. Central Time.

1 STEP SHOW OVERVIEW/ REGISTRATION INFORMATION
The National Pan-Hellenic Council of LSU’s 2016 Homecoming Step Show will be held Friday September 30,
2016. The doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. This show will be held in the LSU Union
Theater.
1.1 PRIZE MONEY:
A 1st place award will be issued separately to the top placing fraternity and top placing sorority in the
amounts of $1000 each. ($1000 for 1st Place Fraternity and $1000 for 1st Place Sorority)
1.2 REGISTRATION FEE
Registration for the 2016 LSU NPHC Homecoming Step Show “Greekdom” will be $100. On the day of the
show $50 will be refunded to the participating chapter.
The registration fee will be collected via CHECK made payable to “LSU NPHC”. The memo section of the
check should include: [Org Symbol]-[Chapter Symbol]-Registration Fee (ex: [BΔΓ]-[ΘΗ]-Registration Fee)

1.3 REGISTRATION DEADLINE
At the rear of this packet, you will find a registration form to be completed and turned in prior to the
registration deadline along with your registration fee.
The registration deadline is Friday, September 16th at 11:59 PM Central Time.
Registration forms should be submitted via email to [email protected] and accompany your registration
fee by US Mail to the address listed above. Upon receipt of registration form and registration fee, a
confirmation email will be sent.

2 RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Whereas The National Pan-Hellenic Council agrees to plan, organize, and execute the Homecoming
Step Show, the Step Team agrees to compete in the Step Show until elimination.
2. The National Pan-Hellenic Council agrees to provide a suitable venue for the Step Show
competition, including the sound equipment, staging, staffing and all other production
requirements to facilitate the successful presentation of the event.
3. Step Team agrees to perform at the Step Show according to the Step Show Judging Criteria as
stated in the “Step Show Participation Packet”.
4. As a condition of participating, each Step Team member agrees to sign a release of liability and
assumption of risk form. Step Team also assumes such risk with respect to the willful or negligent
acts or omissions of said Step Team’s participators or persons otherwise acting or engaged in the
Step Show.
5. Step Team agrees to allow NPHC at LSU to film the Step Show performances.
6. All final team rosters must be submitted no later than September 23, 2016. NO EXCEPTIONS!
7. Members of your chapters that are not specified as a performer or coach, may not be backstage or
on stage at any time during the show. There will be a 10 point deduction for each member found
breaking this rule.
8. No alcohol is permitted in the LSU Student Union Theater (Performance Venue). Groups found with
alcohol will be immediately disqualified.
9. No use of fire, firearms, pyrotechnics, confetti, glitter or liquids of any sort are permitted. Use of
said items will result in instant disqualification.
10. All props and special requirements must be approved by The National Pan-Hellenic Council at least
48 hours before the performance.
11. Videos and music must be submitted at least 72 hours before the performance.
12. Step Show judges reserve the right to disqualify or deduct points from a competitor for ANY
inappropriate behavior, choreography and/or set designs. Inappropriateness includes, but is not
limited to: the use of any illegal substance, alcohol, political propaganda, profanity, nudity, and
poor sportsmanship.
13. Fog machines may be used if they are water based only.

3 TIME LIMIT AND JUDGING CRITERIA
1. Each judge will use the categories (shown below) to judge each team’s performance. The point
value is based off the most that can be awarded per category.
2. Each Step Team will be judged by a panel of qualified judges.
3. Each team will have a minimum of 7 minutes and maximum of 14 minutes to perform. This time
limit includes the Intro and Exit step and any videos. Five points will be deducted for each minute
over the time limit. Any performance below 7 minutes and over 14 minutes will result in points
being deducted.

The audience will be given a slip when they enter the show and will be able to vote for their favorite
performance. The first, second and third place team from the audience’s votes will be given the
points determined above.

4 DEDUCTION OF POINTS AND MUSIC
1. Any deductions of points Step Team may receive are listed below:

2. Time starts once your intro video starts or once all props and performers are on stage.
3. Any disrespectful or unsportsmanlike behavior towards other organizations on or off the stage will result in
disqualification.
4. Songs used in the performance must be edited for content and lyrics. An edited version of the music being
used for competition must be turned in for review no later than 5 PM on September 27, 2016 to the
National Pan-Hellenic Council at LSU. The music must be submitted in both CD format and in mp3 format.
The mp3 format can be sent to [email protected]. With the following subject line: “[Insert Chapter
Name]-[Insert Organization Name]-[NPHC Step Show Media]”
5. If a team is asked to change any music, it must be done before your 72 hour final deadline for all music,
videos and scripts.
6. Any special requests needed for the Step Show must be sent via e-mail to the Step Show chair and NPHC
Advisor no later than 5 PM on September 28, 2016.
7. Special requests include scripts for cues, lighting cues, etc. Any last minute emergencies will only be
acknowledged 48 hours before the event. NO SPECIAL REQUESTS, INCLUDING LIGHTING, WILL BE
ACKNOWLEDGED THE DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE.
8. At the end of the Step Show, all winners will be photographed.
9. All judges’ decisions are FINAL!
10. These rules are subject to change at any time. If we decide to change these rules, your Step Team will be
notified in advance, before they take effect.

5 ARRIVAL PROCEDURE
1. All Step Teams will have the opportunity to briefly (20 minutes) rehearse their performances between the
hours of 2 and 4:30PM the day of the event, September 30, 2016. Teams will be notified in advance of their
designated practice time.
2. All Step Teams must meet at the venue no later than 5:00 PM on the day of the show.
3. Step Teams will only be checked in once ALL PARTICIPATING MEMBERS HAVE ARRIVED. Performers and
coaches need to present valid I.D.’s (either University Issued or State issued) at the time of check in. All
props will also need to be brought in and presented at the time of arrival.
4. All Step Teams’ representatives and coaches are required to wear wristbands that will be distributed by
NPHC upon check in and arrival the day of the event. Without the wristbands, individuals will not be allowed
backstage.
5. NPHC is not responsible for any personal belongings/items that are left in the dressing rooms after your
performance. You may leave them at your own risk.
6 ORDER OF THE SHOW
Performance order will be decided by random drawing at 5:00 PM on the day of the show. Team
representatives are encouraged to be present in order to receive any pertinent day of show information.
