Expression of Interest (EOI) IVORY ST EXHIBITION ABOUT ARTISAN: Artisan is Queensland’s centre for craft and design. We are committed to presenting, promoting and celebrating excellence in craftsmanship and design through our exhibition program and retail store. ABOUT ARTISAN THE OPPORTUNITY: Artisan invites practitioners, groups, curators and organisations to submit exhibition proposals for the Ivory St exhibition program. We are looking for fresh ideas and an innovative approach to this highly visible exhibition space at artisan. Exhibitions must pertain to craft and design or explore the intersections between art, craft and design. Ivory Street Window exhibitions are scheduled to run for 4 – 10 weeks in artisan’s Ivory St window on the corner of Ivory St and Brunswick St. If successful, applicants are expected to be available to assist with install and demount of their exhibition. Expenses that each party is responsible for are outlined in the Budget + Responsibilities section of the application. Include number of artworks, mediums and artist names (if more than one). PROPOSED USE OF THE SPACE Attach a plan of how you propose to use the space – indicate whether the work will require wall space, plinths etc. You may choose to draw your plan on the Ivory St diagrams below. BUDGET + RESPONSIBILITIES An overview is provided below of general costs and responsibilities for each party. If your application is successful these would be discussed in more detail and outlined in an official contract. The below lists are not comprehensive, they are merely a guide. ARTISAN BUDGET ITEMS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Insurance of the work while on display Artist fee (artisan pay an artist fee of $200 to be confirmed prior to the agreement) Vinyl title signage within budget Production of information panel and labels within budget One installer for a day to assist with install and demount (1/2 day for each) Standard install equipment and supplies (nails, hooks, plinths, shelves on hand) Patch painting of the space (white) ARTIST BUDGET ITEMS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Production of artworks Transport of the works to artisan (some assistance may be available for large or awkward items) Specialist display items (for eg. plinths or shelves of a particular size or make, not currently available from artisan) To be available to assist with install and demount Testing and tagging of any electrical equipment being brought in Signage costs outside of artisan’s budget (for eg. If the artist wants more vinyl than a standard exhibition title) Exhibition design costs such as painting Ivory St a colour other than the standard white. The artist would also be responsible for the cost of painting the space back to white (roughly $300). DECLARATION I understand that this EOI to exhibit is an application for consideration by artisan only and does not constitute a contractual agreement for exhibition. I understand that, if this is an application for a group exhibition, that not all members of the group will necessarily be selected, and that artisan will not exercise this right unreasonably.
