SUMMARY
The Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for overall management, supervision, and
coordination of the men's intercollegiate basketball program. Assisting the Head Coach with supervising graduate
assistants and student workers. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work and practice as assigned;
addressing complaints and resolving problems.
II.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required;
related experience coaching or playing required.
2. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
3. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.
4. REASONING Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,
oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
5. OTHER A driver's license and certification in basic first aid are also required for this position. Must pass the
NCAA Compliance Examination.
III.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS











Establishes schedules and makes travel arrangements for team members as directed by Head Coach.
Coordinates the recruitment and scholarship of student athletes under direction of Head Coach.
Monitors academic advisement and progress of student-athletes as directed by Head Coach.
May represent the University in any local, regional, or national meetings, which pertain to men’s basketball,
in Head Coach’s absence.
Assists with practice and game preparation, which includes scouting of opponents.
Remains available during posted hours for members of the team.
Assists with community public relations programs involving men’s basketball.
Assists in organization of sports information materials, i.e. media guides, press releases, etc, as directed by
Head Coach.
Supervises junior varsity sports.
Other duties that may be assigned by the Head Coach.
Compliance Responsibilities: Insure that NCAA and University mandated requirements are met and that
documentation is maintained per policies and procedures; insure that certification and qualifications are
maintained per job description.
