EVERY profession needs people who can understand
other people and write persuasively.
An English education helps you understand people
through the reading of literary characters in a variety
of settings. This can transfer into being able to “size
up” people.
An English education helps you learn effective writing
skills no matter the purpose for writing: inform,
persuade, report, argue, summarize, evaluate, etc.
Why take an English minor?
In the vast majority of careers, you will learn specific
job skills on the job.
Businesses expect to train new employees in entry-level
positions.
Understanding people and being able to write
persuasively are necessary for advancing to highly paid
leadership positions.
