NOTICE OF APPROVAL Number: 1377/2011 FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION ACT 1985 CONTROL OF PESTICIDES REGULATIONS 1986 (S.I. 1986 NO. 1510): APPROVAL FOR OFF-LABEL USE OF AN APPROVED PESTICIDE PRODUCT This approval provides for the use of the product named below in respect of crops and situations, other than those included on the product label. Such "off-label use", as it is known, is at all times done at the user’s choosing, and the commercial risk is entirely his or hers. The conditions below are statutory. They must be complied with when the off-label use occurs. Failure to abide by the conditions of approval may constitute a breach of that approval, and a contravention of the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 (as amended). The conditions shown below supersede any on the label which would otherwise apply. However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment if a COSHH assessment shows that they provide an equal or higher standard of protection. Application Reference Number: COP 2008/01233 ADVISORY INFORMATION This approval relates to the use of ‘Previcur Energy’ (M13342) as a horticultural fungicide for the control of Pythium and downy mildew in protected witloof chicory for head production. Product to be applied as a spray to the root collar or as an addition to the circulating nutrient solution. When spraying the root collars, apply at a rate of 20ml product per m2. Ensure that the full amount of Previcur Energy spray liquid is applied, giving a single application to the root collars of 5 to 10 litres of spray liquid per m2 before forcing. Spray the liquid after placing the roots in the forcing trays. To improve absorption of the product, leave an interval of 12 to 24 hours between spraying and placing the trays in water. When adding the product to the nutrient solution for chicory, incorporate at a rate of 40ml product per 100 litres of solution. A single application in the nutrient solution on the first day of forcing the roots sholud be made, which will improve absorption of the product. Take into account the total volume of circulating solution to avoid errors in dosage.
