Hackney One Team offers a complete supported employment service for Hackney people with learning disabilities. Equally important is the support we give employers. Our candidates want to share the opportunity to work for employers who value their ability to do the job. What is a learning disability? People with a learning disability may have difficulty in learning or understanding some things. It does not mean they cannot work but they may require extra support – which is where we come in. What is supported employment? Supported employment helps disabled people to secure and maintain paid employment. We do this by • Finding jobs that suit peoples’ aspirations and abilities • Assisting people to successfully learn the skills and routines of their job • Supporting people to develop and progress in their working lives What we offer • Assessment • Job matching • Job coaching • Disability awareness • Advice and support for both the employer and employee • Training and employment support for 16-25 year olds (Preparation for Adulthood) • Access to training and education (Progression). Progression Programme Our Progression Co-ordinator provides one to one support for people to access further education and training to improve their chances of employment and progress in their lives. Our Co-ordinator also works with training providers to develop provision in local colleges and community settings for people with learning disabilities. Preparation for Adulthood (Transition) Programme for young people (16-25 years) Our Transition Co-ordinator provides support to school leavers and young people to introduce them to supported employment and the world of work. This happens via work experience, training and support into paid employment.
