ABOUT THE PROGRAMS:
GARDEN CLUB
The FHPS Gardening Club is a place where students will be working together on a
shared vision. Our school is already beautiful but we want to work together to make
it even more so. As part of the Gardening Club we will be focusing on; the planning,
sourcing, budgeting and implementing aspects of creating a garden. Students will
learn about sustainability, native flora and fauna, recycling and water saving. Our
group will also be working with outside sources and the wider school community in the
creation of our Sensory Garden throughout the year. The Gardening Club is a great
way for kids to get their hands dirty, be out in nature and learn how to work
together to achieve great things for our school and the environment.
RACV ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH
This is an exciting program designed to provide opportunities for students, teachers,
parents and local industry to work together to design and construct a vehicle,
machine or innovative technology that will represent an “energy breakthrough.”
ICT-INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES
Using computers, students will develop new skills to code, design and play their own
computer games. Students will also have the opportunity to learn photoshop skills to
gain a greater understanding of how image manipulation is used today, learning across
both areas of digital technologies and design technologies.
MEDIA/PERFORMING ARTS
The Filmmaking program provides an exciting opportunity for students to work
collaboratively on a creative pursuit. Students will engage in the three stages of
filmmaking: planning (pre-production), filming (production), and completing the film and
getting it ready to show (post-production), with the aim of entering a short film
festival for primary students upon completion.
VISUAL ARTS
Semester 1 will be a woodworking unit beginning with simple tools and tasks. It will be
an engaging program for senior students providing children with hands-on wood
working skills and tactile experience beyond the regular art room.
As skills develop, more challenging projects using a wider range of materials and
tools will be undertaken.
