Please note that prize money for the Champion and Reserve will be
withheld in the event they are not sold through the ring.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY & RULES

The Show & Sale will be conducted in accordance with the rules for Shows
and Shows & Sales as laid down in the Society Bye-laws which are
available at: www.jacobsheepsociety.co.uk/downloadable_forms.htm
We would like to draw your attention to the following:
New byelaws applicable this year:
8(p) All rams of one year or older must be kept on a halter at all times in
the show ring.
9(m) Any sheep which is unsalable, i.e. not tagged correctly or rejected
for welfare issues, should be removed from the market at which point the
matter is deemed to be out of the Society's hands.
9(n) the description in the catalogue of Flock Dispersal will mean that the
whole of the pedigree flock of that member is sold and that the flock will
no longer exist. Any dispersal sale of sheep will be held at the end of the
sale and they will not be inspected.
9(o) Only one handler per sheep to be allowed in the show ring at official
shows and sales.
9(p) The Jacob Sheep Society, its officers, trustees and servants, shall not
be held responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused.
Anyone attending a sale or other event held by or on behalf of the Jacob
Sheep Society shall indemnify the Society from and against all actions,
suits, expenses and claims on account of or in respect of any such
damage or injury which may be so caused.
Rules relating to this Show & Sale in particular:
A vendor may only show 2 sheep in each class.
Although the byelaws state that sheep must be registered by 21 days
before the date of the sale, the catalogue for this sale is produced directly
from the Grassroots database and it is imperative that registrations are
lodged with Grassroots either electronically or on paper (marked as
including sheep for the sale) by the closing date of 28 June 2017.
Pedigree certificates of any sheep already registered must be attached to
the sale entry form.

Vendors may deliver Sheep on Monday 31st July from 2.00-5.00pm and
Tuesday 1st August from 6.00-8.30am.
Entry Fees £7.20 per Sheep, to include straw. Entry fees are collected to
subsidise the printing of the sale catalogue – once catalogue is printed the
entry fee is forfeited if the animal is then withdrawn.
All sheep will be sold in Guineas (£1.05), and in catalogue order.
The auctioneers to charge a commission of 5%.
In line with recent years the JSS will waive its right to a levy at this sale.
Cleansing facilities for vehicles and trailers will be available on site for a
nominal charge.
It is the vendor’s and purchaser’s responsibility to ensure that all DEFRA
rules and regulations are adhered to, with regard to movement of sheep
at the time.
Food will be available all day on Tuesday, 1st August in the canteen.
Vendors should ensure that their sheep are identified with the auctioneer's
lot number tags as soon as possible to aid both the inspectors and
potential purchasers.

AUCTIONEER’S OFFICE
The catalogue will be produced directly from the Grassroots
Database. If your sheep is not registered before the deadline it
cannot be accepted in the sale.
The Tay Sachs status of all sheep either tested clear or from
tested clear parents is now shown by suffixes to the registered
number. These will automatically be included in the catalogue
from the database so no entry in the notes boxes is necessary.

it would be greatly appreciated if we could receive your entries
sooner rather than later!
