Our annual Open Night is always an important evening for us and we are keen that we share all our good practice with parents
and showcase the great pupils and staff that we have. Our super Year 7 tour guides were very professional, leading their group
with independence and confidence. The activities were varied and interactive with a bit of everything from making reindeer
cookies to decorating a glittery star Christmas tree decorations and even a Santa visit. There was a good buzz around the
building and the evening went really well. We thank parents for bringing their children back to school to assist and
for making our open night the success it was.
The Year 1s shared the delightful story of a disorganised
but lovable little angel who is chosen to show the way to
Bethlehem. The children performed beautifully, clearly
telling the story with joyful songs and heart-warming
comedy. Well done Year 1—a super first show!
Although Scarecrow needs and receives warm coats from
his friends...(silver fish, polar bears and yellow fluffy
ducklings), he gives them to others whom he feels need
them more than himself. Woven around the story, Mrs
Christmas has shrunk Santa's party outfit. Will Santa be
cross...? He gives his shrunken suit to Scarecrow to keep
him warm, and all ends in a wonderful Christmas party! The
children all loved performing this story and sang each song
perfectly for their audience. Well done Year 2.
Year 3 shared the traditional Christmas story. They led their audience
on the journey to the manger with Mary and Joseph, the Shepherds,
Wise Men and the Star to find where Jesus had been born. They loved
getting dressed up and sharing the traditional Christmas songs.
The McCallister family are going away for Christmas, however in all the confusion and rush to
reach the airport on time their son Kevin boards a flight bound for The North Pole where he
encounters the Sticky Bandits (Harry and Marv) who recently escaped from prison. Kevin hears
of their evil plans to steal Santa’s money and all the toys and ruin Christmas! He sets up some
shocking tricks and saves Christmas! Year 4 has a fantastic time performing this show.
Grace Carson, the only UK German Youth Ambassador from Northern Ireland, delivered a presentation
to the pupils and staff in our school to promote the German culture and language. The pupils loved her
visit and since then have exchanged Christmas cards with a German Primary School.
We had a visit from Denis and Aine from Q-Radio on Monday 14th December. Children
from each year group had the opportunity to take part, whether broadcasting live on air
or pre-recording parts of the show. The children all represented our school excellently.
What a fantastic opportunity!
We had a super Christmas Tree
display for everyone to enjoy with
each year group creating a
different tree for our hall. Our
fantastic musicians set the scene
for our Carol Service serenading
the parents as they arrived with
beautiful Christmas music.
We were pleased to have Mr Ivor Robinson
from Compassion UK join us for our Carol
Service. Mrs Jamison presented him with our
annual sponsorship cheque of £300. A big
thank-you to all parents, relatives and friends
who supported our Candlelight Carol Service.
