 Devices are used only under the direction of the
teacher.
 Devices will be used for academically challenging
research, development of project-based learning
activities, and student presentations.
 Upon teacher approval, devices may be used for
accessing ebooks.
Procedures for Classroom Use
 All 4th & 5th grade classrooms will participate in miDevice.
 No devices will be left in book bags during the school day.
 Devices must be put in a place determined by teachers.
 All devices brought to school must be in a protective case.
 Before bringing devices to school, all parents must label
student devices at home. If the device is not labeled with the
child’s name, he/she will not be allowed to utilize the device.

 Devices should be utilized with ear buds/ear phones or in




silent mode.
All devices must be charged at home.
All downloading of apps must be done at home.
Teachers will provide an acceptable app list for classrooms.
Only apps approved by the classroom teacher can be used at
school.
Discipline Procedures
 Misuse in the classroom:
 1st Offense - The student will not be allowed to use the device for the
remainder of the day.
 2nd Offense – No use for five days
 3rd Offense – Privileges revoked for the remainder of the year
 Damaging another student’s device in class or on the bus: Until the
student who damaged the device pays for the device, they will not
be permitted to use private and/or school technology.
 Theft of a device: Until the student who stole the device returns
and/or pays for the device, they will not be permitted to use
private and/or school technology.
 The teacher or administrative team has the right to skip offenses
for serious infractions. The administrative team shall be the final
authority in interpreting infractions.
Tips for Students
 Charge your device overnight – NO charging at school.
 Keep your own device – NO lending devices to friends.
 Unless your teacher gives you permission to turn your device on and use







it, keep devices powered off at all times.
Get your parent’s permission before installing any apps.
Use for class related purposes only. Absolutely, no social media.
The bathroom and the gym are “Device Free” areas.
Devices are not to be used at dismissal. Keep them in your bookbag.
Students are required to troubleshoot their own device.
miDevice is a privilege that can be taken away at any time.
Video, audio, or photographs of other students and/or
teachers is not permitted. This will be considered a serious
infraction and MCPSS discipline procedures will be
implemented.
