Those detonators are used for applications where the detonator is protected from direct
contact with the oil well environment, e.g. as is the case of hollow carrier perforators.
Their design enables them to withstand high temperature environment. They provide the
fluid disabled feature - in case the perforator leaks the fluid inside it prevents the
detonator from proper function. In this way the detonators prevent from undesirable
blocking the oil well by swollen perforator as might happen with wet shaped charges
incorrectly exploding in a leaky perforator. For the A-140S detonator the fluid disabled
function is designed only for water pressure of at least 0,7 MPa and 10 minute exposure.
The A-140F detonator is offered also in the A-140F/Block version - equipped with a
plastic block to accommodate detonating cord. The A-140F, A-140S and A-161
detonators are transported with a protective tape which is to BE REMOVED JUST PRIOR
USE.
