Showmanship Circuit
Organization
The Carolina Meat Goat Showmanship Circuit purpose is to provide youth the opportunity to
develop their showmanship and management skills. Youth will be recognized for their efforts during
an awards ceremony at the North Carolina State Fair.
Eligibility
By competing in SIX of the TEN goat showmanship events that make up the circuit, participants
will automatically be eligible for year-end awards. Participants must compete in four of the ten events
to receive a t-shirt.
Age Divisions are based on participants age as of January 1 of the current year :
Novice: 8 & under
Junior: 9-13 years
Senior: 14-18 years
Scoring System:
The scoring system is based on an accumulation of points. Points in each age division will be as
follows:
a) Show persons in each age division will receive points as follows:
1st
15 points
nd
2
13 points
3rd
11 points
th
4
9 points
th
5
7 points
made cut
6 points
all others
5 points
b) Participation in four shows qualifies show person for t-shirt
c) An individual's top SIX scores will count toward year-end awards.
d) In the event of a tie
1. Head to head competition will be considered in breaking the tie.
2. All dropped scores will be added.
3. Additional prizes will be given if scores remain tied.
Awards
Shows will compile points and the top five in each age division will be recognized at the North
Carolina State Fair. First place winners in each division will receive a Belt Buckle. Second place
winners in each division will receive a coat. Third, fourth, and fifth place winners will receive prize
money.
Awards Ceremony 2017
(DATES AND TIMES COULD CHANGE WITH FAIR SCHEDULE)
The awards ceremony for the 2017 circuit year will be on
Thursday October 12 at the North Carolina State Fair at 2 pm
in the Exhibition building show ring. All those who will qualify
for a t-shirt should pick it up at the awards ceremony,
or they may contact Eve Honeycutt to make other arrangements.
Extra t-shirts will be for sale after the ceremony for $10 each.

General Rules
1. The Carolina Meat Goat Circuit will follow the rules of each local show.
2. Age divisions are based on the exhibitor's age as of January 1 of the show year.
Novice: 8 & under
Junior: 9-13 years of age
Senior: 14-18 years of age
5. All decision made by the show judge will be final.
6. Meat goats must have all baby teeth the day of the show.
7. Animals must be does or wethers; no buck will be allowed to show
8. Entries will be divided into classes at the show chairman's discretion.
9. If a circuit participant or any member of their immediate family is barred from competition at any of
the sanctioned events, for any reason, that participant shall be ineligible for any and all circuit awards
in the current year.
10.
Judges can not be used more than once during a show year.
11.
The Circuit committee recommends that no Extension Agents that host a show on this circuit
judge any of the shows on this circuit.
