First stages of elephants

 When elephants are born they have weak senses so
they need there moms to help them around.
 They weigh a whole lot more than the average baby
animal they weigh 250 pounds at birth.
Early stages continued

 Baby elephants suck there trunks before they learn
how to use them right. It is just like a human they
have to learn how to do stuff right.
 Elephants are called calf's when they are born and
the vast majority are born at night.
The adolescent stage

 This is when the elephants do not depend on there
mothers as much.
 Age anywhere from 5-10 and it lasts to about 17
years old.
 They begin to break away from main herd and start
little herds called bachelor herds.
Adulthood

 Adult hood starts at age 18 they normally have life
spans of 70 years.
 Elephants start mating at age 20.
Mid life for elephants

 At age 50 Elephants stop bearing calf's.
 They start getting cardiovascular diseases and
arthritis.
 The females always help the other elephants raise the
younger ones.
Older life

 They pretty much continue to live the same way in
till they die like helping the herd out.
Habitats

 Elephants can live any where with enough food for
them. Like swamps deserts and grasslands.
 Most elephants living today live in Africa on
preserves.
 They like to roam and don’t mind to so they can play
and bathe.
Diet

 Elephants can eat 300 to 400 pounds of food per day.
 They mainly eat plants like bamboo and leaves.
 They have been known to eat bananas grown by
farmers.
Species

 The African elephant and Asian elephant.
 The Asian elephants are much smaller and only
some have tusks.
 The African elephants are larger and have fan
shaped ears different from the Asian straight up
from the bottom.


Elephants acting

 Elephants are known for acting they perform in
movies and in circuses.
 The have escaped the circus before.
Elephant attacks

 Elephants are normally not aggressive but
sometimes they attack.
Elephants doing people

 A elephant painted a picture before.
 They have good memory so they could probably
paint past events if they were trained to paint.
Elephants in the Zoo

 Elephants do no live as long in zoos as they naturally
do in the wild.
 In the Zoos they are protected from poachers.
Related animals

Mammoths are closely related to the elephants.
But mammoths are bigger.
speed

 Elephants can run 15 mph.
 The USAtoday proved it.
