The city plus its surrounding territory of 20 square miles has a varied population of many races and nationalities. School Washington Park High School is a comprehensive public high school for Grades 9-12. It is accredited by the State of Wisconsin. It is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Wisconsin Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC). Administratively it is divided into three subschools: Blue, Orange and White. Students Caucasian: 35%, Black: 35%, Hispanic: 27%, Asian and American Indian: 3%. Each counselor serves homerooms in all grade levels. The student stays with one counselor for all four years. Curriculum Courses in the five traditional academic areas are offered to students. Some courses are identified as College Prep or Advanced Placement. Students have the opportunity to participate in Work Study, Fine Arts, Business, Family & Consumer Science, and Technical Education Programs.
