Challenge
The City of Benicia set bold water conservation goals, beyond what
traditional utility services could achieve. WattzOn was asked to
develop and deliver water savings by providing personalized home
visits and opportunities for student involvement and education.
The WattzOn Solution
Since its launch in 2010, the Benicia Home Efficiency Program (BHEP)
has delivered nearly 500 home visits to Benicia residents, savings water
and energy. Services offered under the BHEP brand include:
• Targeted personalized mailers to increase awareness and offer
resident support via usage comparisons, water rebate opportunities
and offers of free home visits
• Home visits including indoor & outdoor water diagnostics, tests for
leaks, and personalized savings recommendations, all summarized
in a report printed on-site
• Training and paid internships for high school students to assist in
outreach and the home visits
• Mobile and web software platform for resident use and communitywide tracking of water savings
