Organization Charter – Hispanic Student Association
A. HSA was formed because Professor Aguilar called together a
focus group. A lot of students answered the email and wanted a
voice for the Hispanic community at UMHB.
B. The purpose is to build up the growing Hispanic student
community at UMHB
C. Questions:
1. Kirstie Wallace: Can you explain how HSA would encompass
the other Hispanic cultures?
a) Educate the members of the groups and through different
events that will have food.
2. Colton Jacob: How often do you plan to meet?
a) Start with twice a month, and probably move to once a month
once they are more prepared
3. Sophie Rivera: How do you plan to receive funding for your
events?
a) Already spoke with Mr. Ball to talk with different organizations
within the community. Would also love to have funding from SGA
if available.
b) Also having funding through dues and establishing
connections with local businesses. Goal is to be self-sufficient.
4. Wesley Bailey: How do you plan to represent the high
schools through your organization?
a) Go to high schools and tell them that UMHB has a Hispanic
student society

5. Vonne Lovejoy: Where do you want your organization to
end up?
a) To promote Hispanic awareness and to educate students on
the Hispanic culture

V. Class Reports
A. Freshman Class – Tyler Baker
1. Focused on the rollover printer point situation. Received
approval to increase printer points or to allow them to
rollover.
B. Sophomore Class – Esther Weaver
1. Came up with a plan of action for the library bill
2. Wants to partner with the SO office for a Valentine’s event
C. Junior Class – Brittany Read
1. Spoke about partnering with a sports game for a class event
D. Senior Class – Colton Jacob
1. A lot of ideas for Play Day
2. Maybe have a to-go box for the cafeteria
3. Graduation party Thursday night before graduation
VI. New Business
A. Faculty / Staff Member of the Month – Maddie Davis
1. Faculty: Leroy Kemp Staff: Mr. Anthony
B. Election Update – Spencer Sims
1. Apps are due for Exec Cab on Friday
2. Sophomore class wants to help with an event this semester
and wants to encourage an organization. Meeting with Heart
of Gold for the dance marathon on April 8th.
C. P2 Update – Kendyll Robinson
1. Demo happening sometime soon
D. P2 Update – Merritt Franzmann
1. Met with Donna Plank, there’s no complaints with women’s
dorms and for men’s dorms there are very few complaints.

2. Switching over the security camera system within the year
and once that happens it will be a lot cheaper to add a camera
so it will probably happen then.
E. P2 Update – Colton Jacob
1. Sent email memo to all those involved in the senior ring bill
and they will meet and get back to him.
F. Food Services Update – Kayla Headley
1. There have been a lot of complaints about Sodexo workers
and the quality of Chick fil A. SGA will serve as “secret
shoppers” and write down any bad experiences with these
issues.
2. Write down comments like time of service, quality of service
and quality of food. Text to Kayla throughout the next few
weeks.
VII. Open Floor
A. Kendyll Robinson – There is a prayer garden on campus, wants to
possibly look into making it look nicer and make it more publicized.

B. Colton Jacob – Some ideas for Play Day
C. Tyler Baker – Previously mentioned the printer points increase
and wants to have a booth in Bawcom for voting on what they want.
Also, crucash/dining dollar rollover is in the works.
1. Alex Kown: Possibly we could to a twitter poll to be more
efficient
2. Tyler Baker: Explains difference between adding $5 to
printing points vs. having roll over. Also addressed making it
$15 and the possibility of going back to $10 because of the
demand from students.
3. Lulu Shelton: wants to know more info of where the funding
are coming from and concerns that stem from that issue.
a) Tyler Baker: The money does not come from one specific place;
rather different organizations on campus will budget and fund
that. The number of students using printer points is decreasing

4. Jonah Fox: Is it possible for students to have free printing?
a) Tyler Baker: No, it is far too expensive
5. Kayla Headley: Present a poll next week to SGA
6. Esther Weaver: Would the dollar increase be subject to
change and would rollover points be subject to change?
a) Tyler Baker: Dollar increase is subject to change, rollover would
not be because it does not cost the university.
D. Ross Jones – Some seniors were wondering why specific
organizations don’t have the opportunity to receive cords for
graduation if they want them.

E. Wesley Bailey: Spoke with Sue Weaver and she wants to hear his
progress, meaning Wes will go speak with Dr. Theodore about the
issue.
F. Merritt Franzmann: Does the digital screen by the football field
need to be on all of the time?
1. James Ewing: Yes…the screen cannot be turned on and
turned off easily.
2. Wesley Bailey: Maybe do more research to looking into
using the screen for more announcements.
