Best Possible Value Close Partnering

Best Possible Value
Value = Outcomes (Quality/Patient Experience/Safety)
Resource (Revenue and Capital Cost)
Work with Bain & Co. to produce a Decision Effectiveness Toolkit
WHAT – Using value components what are we trying to achieve?
WHO – Who is in charge of making the decision?
HOW – How will it be implemented and gain commitment from
those who will implement it.
WHEN – When will the different stages happen?

the numerator and finance professionals focus on the
denominator.

Opportunity to seek opinions of staff and get any issues aired for honest discussion. Highlighted a number of ‘Quick Wins’.
Diversity Workstream – work around ‘More Diverse Leadership’. Used the outputs of the 2015 HFMA survey and the Annual Staff Survey to
produce a report into the current position re Female Leaders and BME leaders in finance. Recognised a ‘glass ceiling’ for female leaders after
the Band 8b level with only 26% of Director posts being held by women. Also highlighted that 92% of part-time workers are female. A further
survey carried out by FFF highlighted concern around discrimination against women who take time out to have children. Roundtable organised
with HFMA and work ongoing into agreeing actions. Work to begin in relation to ethnicity.
Career Stories – booklet produced in partnership with HFMA outlining the career paths of 25 Finance Professionals. Illustrates that there is no
one route through a career in finance and highlights the options available to individuals.
