Cyber-attack
All practices should be back on their systems now following the cyber attack
on the NHS and other organisations on 12th May. The IT team visited all
practices with an on site server to ‘patch’ computers to allow reconnection to
systems the other 11 practices had their patches applied through the central
server. Messages and updates were sent throughout the period following the
attack via an established messaging application that included practice
managers and updates were added to the Practice Portal page of the CCG’s
website. The CCG kept members of the public updated via web updates and
social media.

Date for your diary: CCG Annual General Meeting
27th September 2017
The CCG will be holding it’s Annual General Meeting on
Wednesday 27th September at the Ridgeway Conference
Centre in Milton Keynes.
All GPs and practice staff are invited to attend.
Further details will follow.
GP Workload …. Primary/Secondary care ineterface
NHSE standard contract..
“GPs are under considerable workload pressures
……secondary care providers , particularly hospitals ,
don’t organise patient care efficiently and don’t
communicate with patients and practices. ……. NHS
England has included a range of new provisions , trying
to move providers towards better practice in these
areas, in ways which will be better for patients and
reduce unnecessary workload for practices.”
Are our hospitals complying with expectations?
• Consultant to consultant referrals- For a non urgent condition related
to the original referral to another professional within the same provider is
permitted , there is no requirement to refer back to the GP. Re referral (or GP
approval) is only required for onward refarral of a non –urgent , unrelated
condition.
• Fit notes-Expectation this is done as part of the normal patient pathway, so
that specific clinic appointments are not requires for the sole purpose of providing
a fit note
• Medication following clinic attendance
• Patient and GP queries –Hospitals should respond themselves rather than
passing on to GP surgeries. Respond promptly including notification of results

MKG P F E DE RATION
Why Federate?
 Increased workload and demand with a decreasing work force which
requires local and regional transformation
 Reduced overall core funding which requires operational efficiency savings
for practice sustainability
 Contracts “at scale” 30,000 – 50,000 population (FYFV, GP 2022) eg:
Enhanced services, GPAF, AQPs
 Increasing quality standards and regulations eg: CQC
 We need to work together to transform General Practice by General Practice
or do nothing and have it done to us.
 One Voice for Milton Keynes General Practice – together we are stronger
