to detect any malfunction, breakdowns,
leakage
to inspect bilge levels and read instruments
to execute immediately bridge orders and
enter in log / bell book any changes in speed
and direction

to attend the control desk in manually
operated machinery during manoeuvre and
standby
to inform the bridge of any occurrence in e. r.
affecting speed, manoeuverability and power
supply.
