RESPONSIBILITY Main propulsion machinery, auxiliary machinery, electrical plant, winches, windlass, refrigerating, machinery, steering gear, ventilating system. TITLE SECOND ENG. THIRD ENG. (FOURTH ENG.) RESPONSIBILITY Maintenance & repairs of all the machinery on board (except the electrical). TITLE RESPONSIBILITY ELECTRICAL OFF. maintenance & repairs of electrical plant and devices. DONKEYMAN allocation of duties to the ratings and control of their work. TITLE RESPONSIBILITY ( PUMPMAN ) pumps on board the tankers. GREASERS ENG APPRENTICE greasing moving parts of the machinery responsible to the CHIEF a) should be acquainted with : their safety duties: location and handling – safety equipment and survival procedures alarm signal and needed actions communications systems for asking help escape route from e. r. - b) should carry out following duties in traditionally manned e. r. on entering the e. r. to glance at the blackboard for orders and instructions to check the current operational parameters and to compare them with the log readings b) should carry out following duties in traditionally manned e. r. to check whether the quantity of oil is sufficient during watch to check the levels of lube oil and freshwater tank to inspect at given periods, the main plant, auxiliaries and steering gear space b) should carry out following duties in traditionally manned e. r. to detect any malfunction, breakdowns, leakage to inspect bilge levels and read instruments to execute immediately bridge orders and enter in log / bell book any changes in speed and direction b) should carry out following duties in traditionally manned e. r. to attend the control desk in manually operated machinery during manoeuvre and standby to inform the bridge of any occurrence in e. r. affecting speed, manoeuverability and power supply.
