Talent shows – dream or nightmare?
There are talent shows over most of the world, some bigger than others. Some of
the people who go to an audition for talent shows actually have talent. Many attend
just so they can be on TV, even though they get humiliated in front of the whole
nation. It’s stupid what people will do for 5 minutes of fame. There are actually some
of them who believe that they are good singers, dancers etc. because nobody has
ever had the courage to tell them that they are truly bad at it. I feel sorry for them.
It should be the parents' job to tell them, that they should not go to the audition. It
is very irresponsible to let their children being humiliated in this way. - Because the
judges are rude and the audience shouts depressing words. Some people at home in
the living rooms are also criticizing them.
We should not forget that there are people who go to the audition who are unique.
Some of them have a really special gift and their talent really shows how good they
are.
In Denmark, a new kind of talent show has started. When the person trying out
performs, the judges can not see him. If the judges want the participant on their
team, they press on a button. Then their chairs turn around so they can see each
other. I think it's a nice way to do it. You can not judge them right when they come in
to audition. In this show, it is not the appearance, but the participant's voices are the
first impression. In this way, the judges did not say no, just because you're fat, ugly,
from another country, or many other things.
In the United States there are so many different shows: Americas Got Talent, Xfactor, American Idol etc. I think it's good that we don’t have more talent shows then
we have here in Denmark, because we are a small country and it is limited how many
talents we have got. – In USA, it is not a problem, because they are so many people.
I think that talent shows become more and more a show with fun and pranks, than a
show with a focus on talent. So if we keep shows like “Talent” so often, then more
than half of the people who trying, are without talent!
In the United States and the United Kingdom the talented participants have much
publicity, and a lot who admire them when they meet them on the streets. People
get success and they continue to be famous for many years! Many from the whole
world, probably know who Kelly Clarkson is. She won American Idol, and is still very
popular in the music world. In Denmark the winners are forgotten after a few
months. Maybe you also know One Direction? – They are very popular at the
moment, and had been for about a year. Many girls are raving about them, and
often their hits are on the radio.
My thought is just that TV stations in Denmark are spending a lot of money on
something that is not necessary. I think we need new TV programs!
