*Activity Directions*
Sharks & Minnows- Start with one person being the shark, all other
students become minnows. The shark starts in the middle of the play area
and tells the fish to come out, when the minnows slowly walk towards the
shark. At any point the shark can yell ‘Shark Attack!!’ and the minnows have
to run to the opposite boundary line without being tagged. If a minnow is
tagged they become a shark. The game continues until there are only one or
two more minnows, who can then become sharks in the next round.
Leaf Paint- Have students select leaves from outside. They can then paint
them to create a leaf ‘stamp’ for each different leaf.
Ship Island- One player or the leader is assigned as ‘Captain’. Their role is
to call out actions and dismiss players who break character or don’t do
actions quickly enough. Possible commands are:
• Captain's Coming: Everyone stands at "attention" (in a salute), and they
can’t move from this position until the caller says, "At Ease!" If they
laugh or break from the attention, they are dismissed.
• To the ship: Players run to the right.
• To the shore: Players run to the left.
• Man Overboard: One person drops to one knee the other stands behind
them, puts a hand on their shoulder. Both scan the ocean for the
overboard man.
• Crow’s Nest: Three players stand backs to each other and lock arms at the
elbows to form the crow’s nest.
• Mess Table: Four players squat in a circle like sitting at table and pretend
to eat like they haven't eaten in days.
• Walk the Plank: Five people stand in a single file row hands on the
shoulders of person in front of them.
• Mermaid: each player individually thrust out right hip, places right hand on
that hip, takes left hand and makes a big exaggerated wave and yells
out "howdy sailor!".
Pet Rocks- Each student picks a new pet rock, they can decorate them with
paints, google eyes, pompoms, pipe cleaners, etc. and give them a name!
Fuse Beads- Use fuse beads and follow packaging instructions to create
crafts with them.
Zookeeper- One player or leader is the Zookeeper. They call out to other
players “Hey
wanna be in my zoo?” the player replies “Yes” and
the Zookeeper tells them any animal they decide (can be real or goofy like a
chicken-dolphin). All players should act like their assigned animal until the
zoo is almost full. The last one or two players left call that they want to see
the animals, but the animals have to run away because they aren’t real
animals.
Animal Masks- Use foam paper or paper plates with eyeholes to create any
animal students want. They can decorate them using paint, markers,
feathers, pompoms, pipe cleaners, and any other art materials on hand.
Water slide craftBlob Tag- One student is assigned or volunteers as It, other students want
to avoid them. When students are tagged they must link with whoever
tagged them to form the Blob. If a blob reaches 6 people, they can split into
groups of three. The last person to be tagged becomes It for the next round.
Egyptian collars- Trace a neck-sized circle on a paper
plate and cut it out, with one straight cut so the paper plate
will open but stay closed if it isn’t being pulled on. Paint or
color the collar however you want!
