Programme 2014
Programme info
Are you currently coaching at a club or part of a talent pathway? We are
looking to support the most promising coaches as part of our 2014 Talented
Coaches Programme.
The programme has run successfully for the last five years and was short
listed among the top 3 coaching interventions of the year at the 2008 Sports
Coach UK Coaching Awards.
Successful candidates will be supported over a 12 month period to develop
knowledge, experience and skills specific to their current roles and in support
of future coaching goals. There is a core programme of education and
training, an individually designed package of support and can include an
identified mentor.
Coaches must also be committed to attending training sessions, many of
which will be evening workshops. You will be given sufficient prior notice of
these dates.
Thank you for taking the time to apply to be part of the programme and we
look forward to playing a big part in your coaching future.
Kind regards,
Pete Forster

Eligibility Criteria
To be included in the programme coaches must meet certain criteria:
Coaches will be required to hold at least a current level 1 governing
body award in the sport for which they are applying and be prepared
to work towards the next level during the programme.
Demonstrate a long-term commitment to their personal development
and to be actively coaching regularly in Nottinghamshire.
Have an appropriate level of coaching experience i.e. coaching on a
regular basis. (Experience with elite athletes is not necessary).
The minimum age is 18
Full time coaches can apply but priority will be given to coaches’
regularly coaching in a voluntary capacity.
Coaches must be affiliated to their NGB unless such affiliation does not
exist.
Where a governing body officer covers Nottinghamshire they should
endorse the application. Where an NGB is not able to commit to
supporting a candidate or the sport does not have an NGB, the panel
will decide if the candidate can be accepted onto the programme. In
this instance the Nottinghamshire Coaching Development Group may
contact NGB Officers on behalf of applicants.
Applicants must provide the names of 2 independent referees who can
confirm that they meet the above criteria and vouch for their
suitability to join the programme. Relatives of coaches cannot act as
referees.
Coaches must either hold a drivers license or be able to attend
workshops etc around the county.
Selection Procedure
All applications will be reviewed by a panel made up from members of the
Nottinghamshire Coaching Development Group (NCDG). The panel will assess
all applications and successful candidates will then be notified. The panel’s
decision is final and appropriate feedback will be sent to those unsuccessful
applicants.
If successful you will be invited to an introduction evening on Monday
December 2nd

Following an offer, candidates must commit to the 12 month programme.
This will mean a commitment to attend, where possible, all training related
to this programme.
The CDG will do all they can to fully support the coaches. However a certain
level of commitment is required from the coach and the group reserve the
right to withdraw their place on the programme if the coach fails, without
reason, to attend training and mentoring support. The group will have
considered many candidates prior to selection and therefore it is important
that those selected engage fully.
Every coach will undertake a six monthly review and will be consulted fully
should any issues arise.
