Dear UIL Class 6A Region I Participants:
On behalf of our University President, Dr. Vistasp Karbhari, I want to welcome you to The University of
Texas at Arlington for the 2016 UIL Class 6A Region I Spring Sports Championships. We feel privileged and
grateful for the opportunity to host these important and prestigious events. We are confident that we
will be able to provide the setting for your students to excel in their competitions.
Please use this information handbook, which can also be found online on our UT Arlington Athletics
website- www.utamavs.com, as a guide for these UIL competitions. This handbook has been prepared to
provide you with helpful information concerning all aspects of the Class 6A Region I Boys and Girls Golf
Tournament competition. Please direct questions to your district representatives listed on the following
pages. If your district representative cannot help you, please do not hesitate to contact the UT Arlington
UIL office at (817) 272-5039.
The individuals who will be instrumental in the facilitation of your Boys and Girls Regional Golf
competitions will be Stuart Deane, our head men’s and women’s golf coach and Casey Devoll, assistant
men’s and women’s golf coach.
The information that follows in this electronic handbook is specifically related to the Regional Boys and
Girls Golf Championships!! The official golf course contacts at the championship venues are Mark Aston

and Vince Pellman at Rolling Hills Golf Club at [email protected] or 817-261- 6221, for the Girls
Regional Tournament.

The last page of this information handbook is a 2016 Class 6A Region I Boys and Girls Golf Championships
billing invoice for your use in processing the entry fees for your individual student athletes and teams
participating in these UIL Regional events. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any

2016 UIL Class 6A Region I Boys and Girls Golf Tournament Information
Dates:
The boy’s tournament will be played on Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12, 2016
The girl’s tournament will be played on Wednesday and Thursday, April 13-14, 2016
In the event of inclement weather the tournament, or that portion of the tournament
which has not been played, will be completed the next day. If weather conditions
prevent playing the pre-determined number of holes (36), fewer holes (completed by all
golfers) may be used to determine winners. (A minimum of 9 holes must be completed
by all golfers.)

Fort Worth along Interstate I-30 at 8951 Creek Run Road Fort Worth, Texas 76120

From Fort Worth:
Take I-30 east to exit 24 (Eastchase Parkway) turn left on Eastchase Parkway to John T.
White. Turn right to Randol Mill Rd. Turn right to Creek Run Rd. Turn left to
Waterchase Golf Club.
From Arlington/Dallas:
Take I-30 west to exit 24 (Eastchase Parkway) turn right on Eastchase Parkway to John T.
White. Turn right to Randol Mill Rd. Turn right to Creek Run Rd. Turn left to
Waterchase Golf Club.
GIRLS:
Rolling Hills Country Club, Arlington, Texas. The golf course is located at 401 East Lamar
Boulevard, Arlington Texas 76011 (http://www.Rolling-Hills.net)
From I-30 in central Arlington, use Cooper Street exit onto service road from either
direction. Exit north on Cooper Street (to right when coming from east on I-30, to the
left when coming from west on I-30). Turn right onto Lamar Boulevard (golf course will
be on your left) and go east to turn lane into entrance to Rolling Hills Country Club on
the left. Parking will be at the end of the entrance lane on the right.

Scheduling & Pairings: Tee times begin at 8:00 am off Holes #1 and #10 - Ten minute increments will be
used for each respective tournament. Contestants will play 18 holes each day.
BlueGolf Rounds on the “bluegolf.com” website will be utilized for all pairings
and results. This BlueGolf Rounds icon can be found at www.bluegolf.com . A
pairings list with assigned foursomes will be presented at the coaches meetings
and posted at each venue. Initial pairings will be as a result of team scores from
the District tournaments.

Entry Forms & Fees:
Tournament fees including practice rounds are a flat fee of $50.00 per day per
player for a total of $150.00 per player.
Tournament fees include:
One coach’s cart for two days of competition
Two rounds of competition play and one practice round
Range balls for each round
All fees should be paid to UT Arlington Athletics. Entry forms and fees (checks
made payable to UT Arlington Athletics) must be sent to UT Arlington Athletic
Department to arrive no later than Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

There are additional fees for the use of carts for the practice round which
should be paid directly to the respective course pro shop.

Practice Rounds:
Practice rounds may be played according to UIL rules. The contact person for
scheduling practice rounds for the UIL Boys Region I Tournament at Waterchase
Golf Club is Mark Aston at Waterchase Golf Club at [email protected] or
817-861-4653 and for the UIL Girls Regional Championships Tournament is
Vince Pellman at Rolling Hills Golf Club at [email protected] or 817-2741072.
Coaches should contact the respective Pro Shop to schedule practice round
tee times. Please schedule practice rounds at least 48 hours in advance.

On Sunday, April 10th, The Links at Waterchase Golf Club will have tee times
available for practice rounds after 12:00 p.m. The cart fee for practice rounds is
$15 per person. Make any checks for practice round cart fees payable to
Waterchase Golf Club. Please remember the green fees for the practice
round is included in the overall Regional Tournament fees.
On Tuesday, April 12th, Rolling Hills Country Club will have tee times available
for practice rounds after 1:30 p.m. The cart fee for practice rounds is $15 per
person. Only credit cards will be accepted for the cart fees for the practice
rounds. Please remember the green fees for the practice round is included in
the overall Regional Tournament fees.

Practice Range
The course at Rolling Hills has limited driving range facilities for warm-up prior
to the 6A Girl’s Regional Tournament. This year arrangements have been made
with the Jim McLean Golf Center next to the Links at Waterchase Golf Club for
use of their driving range with range balls prior to the practice round on
Tuesday and each day of Regional competition (at no cost to the competing
schools). The Jim McLean Golf Center management has set aside an area of
their range for the exclusive use of Regional competing teams. The Jim McLean
Golf Center driving range is located a short distance from Rolling Hills. A short
game area is available at Rolling Hills for warm-up, but limited to chipping and
putting.

Please utilize results form “UIL GIRLS AND BOYS DISTRICT RESULTS” and forward
immediately following respective meets.
Rules:
USGA and UIL rules govern play except as modified by local rules and will be
addressed in the respective coaches meetings.
Rules Committee:
Only members of the Rules Committee are authorized to make rule decisions.
All questions of rules should be addressed and a decision rendered before the
player’s scorecard is signed. The decision of the Rules Committee will be final.

Spectators:
Spectators should be encouraged to attend. However, they should adhere to
the following:
It is not their responsibility to administer the rules or give rules advice.
It is not their responsibility to report rules violations.
They shall give no advice, signals, equipment, clothing, or instructions to any
player.
They are allowed to help locate any player’s golf ball in an effort to facilitate the
pace of play.
They shall stay a substantial distance from the coaches and players
(approximately 10 paces) other than as mentioned above.
Spectators shall stay a substantial distance from the scoring area or tent.
Failure to do so may impact an individual or team score.
Awards Ceremony:
An awards ceremony will immediately follow the conclusion of play. Team and
individual awards will be presented.
T-Shirts and UIL Regional Patches UT Arlington will be seeking approval from the UIL to have Regional
Tournament t-shirts and commemorative patches available on-site at the
respective tournaments.
