Shopfronts
JFO & CT have identified the shopfronts that require action and will bring a schedule and
suggested action plan to the next meeting. Initial approaches have received mixed
responses some indicating the traders were free to do the work but they would not, others
explained that the external maintenance was the tenant’s responsibility. The traders would
get a working party to assist in the decorating work where needed.
JFO would chase NSC to establish if there are any incentives or legal pressure that can be
brought on landlords.
ACTION JFO
Marketing
PA has the marketing strategy in draft and would circulate it for comment with the working
group before bringing to the next CCT Meeting.
ACTION PA, PH
PA requested that the marketing working group be increased to bring in Kate Gay and
John Coe both of whom have been working with Marlens and the Tides Festival – This
was AGREED. Kate Gay would be the second Chamber Representative
To discuss the creation of a master plan for the town centre; to agree a date for the initial
meeting with NSC officers as per the agreement with David Carter.
PH explained that the offer that had come from David Carter of NSC to hold a workshop
and brain storming session with members of Clevedon CCT and his officers to look at
creating a master plan for the Town. It would be an opportunity to look at the Economic
Plan with senior NSC officers to establish what is viable and possibly influence future
funding programmes. Also to obtain information that could influence the BID priorities as
presented at the referendum.
14th November 2016 at 10am.
PH would circulate copies of the flip charts from the previous CCT workshops. PH & JFL
would liaise over the format and presentation of the meeting.
ACTION PH, JFL

plans would form part of the 2nd trench consultations by NSC Access review.
Approximately 12 -15 clients have expressed positive interest in being involved with the
Creative Hub. PA explained about the work being done at Triangle Network offices to hot
desk for training and sales clients which although similar to the Creative Hub concept is
targeting different market so does not form a conflict of interest.

The publication strategy would be completed once the Marketing strategy has been

being kept and any articles in respect of the CCT should be forwarded to PH for inclusion.

next CCT meeting
ACTION PH
JG explained about the reprint of the Town Council map this could be altered to be called
“Discover Clevedon”
Members agreed to include representatives from Clevedon School 6th Form on the
Committee.
ACTION PH
To review the bank holiday weekend entertainment – Flower show, Thundercats
Thundercats – had a positive impact on the Town with a lot of visitors despite the
restriction on advertising. Next year’s race would not be on a bank holiday suggested date
29th July 2017. The marketing working group would work to create an “events” template
covering the advertising, transport and traffic management, format of promotion etc.
It was noted that the Castlewood Park and Ride had not been successful partially due to
the promotion and advertising. Future years would need clearer signage and a ‘hop on hop
off style’ transport around the town to be picked up in the “events” template.
Members wished their thanks and appreciation for all Paul’s hard work is recorded.
Bob Hardcastle briefed the team on Clevedon Civic Society’s (CVC) involvement in the
Clevedon Neighbourhood Plan. He explained that the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group
was looking at a longer term view (say 20 years out) and that a public consultation via the
distribution of questionnaires was underway. It was confirmed that this initiative is
supported by the local authority. After discussion it was agreed that the CCT would keep a
watching brief on this work but would not engage formally. Phil Curme (Chair) agreed to
circulate the Neighbourhood Plan questionnaire just in case any members wished to
respond individually
