NAMI MARIN PRESENTS
A CONFERENCE ON
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY FOR PSYCHOSIS
FOR PROVIDERS AND FAMILIES
May 16-18, 2017
NAMI Marin invites you to attend a conference on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for psychosis
conducted by a team of experts from England led by Dr. Doug Turkington. Click here for his
credentials.
CBT is recognized internationally as a first line of treatment in addition to medication for persons with
schizophrenia for early intervention, to help with medication resistant patients, and to assist patients in
managing their symptoms and promoting long-term recovery.
This 3-day conference is divided into modules that are directed to health care providers as well as
families of those living with serious mental illness:
Days 1 and 2 (May 16 and 17): For clinicians and other providers of mental health services,
the topics will include discussion and demonstration of CBT techniques for schizophrenia.
Day 3 (May 18): For families and clinicians interested in understanding family member issues,
the topics will include discussion and demonstration of ways to use CBT skills to more
effectively work with loved ones.
Click here for a more detailed description of the modules.
Participation will be on a first-come-first- served basis with priority for NAMI Marin families. To
reserve your place for the appropriate modules, e-mail [email protected]. A nonrefundable deposit of $50 is required to hold your place. The charge for the program is $100 per day
for providers and is free of charge to family members (other than the $50 deposit to hold your place.)
The location in Marin County will be announced at a later date. Please call 415-444-0480 for
questions.
This conference has been made possible through generous donations to the Anthony Masini Memorial Fund in
remembrance of a brilliant young psychologist who dedicated himself to helping those with serious mental illness.
