ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST II WATER MANAGEMENT DIVISION (TEMPORARY FULL TIME – UP TO 2 YEARS) Position: The Water Management Division of the Cowichan Valley Regional District is seeking a temporary full time Engineering Technologist II to work for a period of up to two years. Reporting to the Manager, Water Management, the Engineering Technologist II is responsible for performing a wide variety of technical tasks of a municipal engineering nature, including coordinating maintenance, design and implementation of upgrades, monitoring and processing applications for sanitary sewer, water, drainage and streetlighting systems. Qualifications: Graduation from a recognized technical institute with a diploma in civil engineering and eligible for membership in the ASTT as a technologist/technician, or a combination of education and appropriate training and experience. A minimum two (2) years of related experience in the civil engineering field. Applicants must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License. Knowledge in the following areas is required: civil engineering principles and practises, including drinking water and wastewater regulations; water supply and distribution, wastewater collection, treatment and disposal systems, and drainage systems; and computer based engineering applications, including AutoCAD, GIS and Microsoft Office programs. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively verbally and through written materials and be able to establish and maintain courteous, tactful, diplomatic working relationships with other employees, the general public. Hours of Work: The hours of work are 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings. Salary: This temporary full time union position (CUPE Local 358) has a salary range in three steps: $35.14 – $36.23 - $37.27 per hour (2016 rates).
