Telecommunication providers are ending 2G cellular service by December 31, 2015. In anticipation of this, Brivo is
proactively offering an upgrade option for customers using the ACS5000-W/G wireless control panel. By integrating
existing hardware with a Brivo CNR, customers will be able to continue to use their control panels in a wireless
(cellular) capacity without interruption of service or any reduction in functionality. Additionally, the Brivo CNR can be
used easily with an ACS5000-E or IPDC-E panels in situations where landline Ethernet connectivity is not an option.
There are three paths for Brivo customers to utilize the Brivo CNR with their hardware installation:
1)
2)
3)
An existing ACS5000-W/G panel using 2G cellular can be modified to use the Brivo CNR, which will
allow the ACS5000-W/G panel to continue to function as it has previously.
An existing ACS5000-W/G panel using 2G cellular can be converted to function as an ACS5000-E
panel using a Brivo CNR to maintain panel connectivity. Utilizing this option will allow existing
ACS5000-W/G customers to access features available only to ACS5000-E customers such as Pulse
Door, Live Activity, and Lockdown.
A new ACS5000-E or IPDC-E installation can choose to use a Brivo CNR to maintain panel
connectivity in situations where landline Ethernet access is not available.
NOTE: Video is not an available option for panels using Brivo CNR connectivity.
Each option above has a conversion procedure document with which it is associated. These conversion
documents can be found at www.brivo.com/cellularrouter.
Recommended Installations
Brivo recommends installing the Brivo CNR in a separate enclosure next to where the Brivo control panel is
being installed.
